They promise good fortunes to anyone willing to convert, andMegumin is rightfully wary.
Besides, teamwork is not her best asset. She just needs to find some work and earn enough money to head off to the next town. However, in a sordid twist of fate, the Aqua Goddess zealots surprisingly manage to lure Megumin onto their side, causing a great deal of chaos for the Crimson Demon in the process.

Cecily The Schemer
Cecily is Arcanletia’s best and most beautiful trickster, the faithful priestess of the Axis Cult, or as she would say:Religious Order.This charming blond bombshell has it out for anyone with allegiance to the Eris Sect, and is not above using manipulation and deception to take her enemies down! She is renowned for being a hooligan and instigator; she’s a sassy, spunky, scandalmonger with no shame to speak of. So, Megumin’s kind of gal!
When surrounded by friends, Cecily is quite a sweetheart, with a love for food, beer, and Lady Aqua of course. After essentiallygetting Megumin into troubleand then “saving” her from the Eris cultists, Big Sis Cecily manages to win Megumin over with her nurturing magnetism and promising words.
“Why don’t you come with me? I’ll take real good care of you!”
“Let’s get you some tasty food, and we can have a nice chat.”
Poor Megumin didn’t stand a chance.
A Priest and A Demon Walk Into A Bar…
The Priest is also quick to notice that Megumin is very food motivated, and lures her into participating in the Axis Sect’s shenanigans with promises of even more delicious treats. Honorably recruiting new followers is apparentlynotan option; it’s manipulation tactics all the way when this church is concerned.

Despite her best efforts,Megumin keeps ending up with egg on her faceas Zesta’s lackluster follow-through thwarts their plans at every attempt. The Poor Crimson Demon even nearly gets herself arrested, the poor soul! Playing the victim doesn’t work out too well, as the Priest’s creep factor is particularly difficult to disguise. Swopping conversion leaflets for toilet paper in public bathrooms is one way to spread the word, although it’s unlikely to cause a surplus of excited and intrigued followers. Although, propaganda does belong in the potty; so at least the Axis Cult got one thing right…
The Eris Order’s Interference
The Eris and Axis Sects have been at each others' throats for ages, although it’s pretty easy for viewers to pick a side, considering Zesta’s dastardly and perverted ways. However, the Priest is not arrested for his sexual misconduct or public indecency. It’s the accusation of treason that lands this man behind bars. Eliminating the Demon King is evidently more important than protecting women from harassment.
According to Zesta, the Eris Cult framed him by suggesting the hot springs and the Demon King are connected. The Axis Cult is responsible for water control, which apparently makes the Priest an undercover Demon King General. However, Yunyun’s sudden appearance at the precise time that the Crimson Demons' supposed warning arrivedisrather suspicious, especially considering Megumin’s ties with the Axis Cult have now been conveniently severed. Although to be fair, Yunyun was simply deliveringthe sensational Soketto’s prophecyand only intended to help the people of Arcanretia. The local girls are surely all grateful!
Megumin’s Embarrassment and Enlightenment
Even though Megumin’s experience with the Axis Cult is a rather tedious affair, she does gain some insights about Wolbach. The Priest recalls hearing abouta voluptuous Explosion Magic aficionado,who is running a magic item shop in Axel. He reassures Megumin that if her target’s bountiful breasts are indeed her identifying markers, then they are most probably talking about the same stunner! And as mostKonoSubafans are well aware, Axel is where Megumin meets Kazuma inGod’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!,so things are coming full circle.
Megumin pays a hefty price for this information as she almost dies from embarrassment when Yunyun catches her in the act, rolling around the floor like a helpless damsel. Megumin’s reaction is priceless! The self-declared genius decides to play dead, in the hopes that Yunyun would lose interest and walk away. The explosion-enthusiast had so muchbravado in the Crimson Demon Villiage,but from the looks of it, Megumin’s independence has turned her into a big old baby. However, she’s not going to let a silly thing like pride get in the way of her dreams!
