2022 is looking to be a stacked year for fighting games. While it has been a while since a mainline entry was released for one of the genre’s major franchises, the end of last month brought the announcement of thehighly anticipatedStreet Fighter 6. Yet, even with such a big reveal for the fighting game community, there’s still more for fans to enjoy, such as a newJoJo’s Bizarre Adventurefighting game.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Ris a remake of a PS3 cult classic game, allowing players to pick their favorite characters from the long-running manga and anime and fight each other. The release ofJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Rcoincides with the35th anniversary of theJoJo’s Bizarre Adventuremangaand is currently aiming to launch later in 2022. The fighting game seems more than just a remake though, and as was outlined in yesterday’s showcase, it will be coming with some tweaks.

Firstly, the game will be getting some new fighters added to its roster. As the initialJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battlereleased back in 2013, and themanga and anime developed by Hirohiko Arakihas been heavily updated since then, new characters have been added to reflect this change.JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Rboasts over fifty characters, meaning that ten more than the original game will be available at launch.
Considering theJoJo’s Bizarre Adventureanime has also had more adaptations since 2013, the game will include the anime voice acting fromPhantom Blood, all the way up to the mostrecently releasedStoneOcean. Voice acting will be included for those characters that have not yet had an anime adaptation, though anime watchers will appreciate the consistency between the voices being the same both from the show and the game. Moreover, there’s some graphical upgrades being brought to the remake of the game, alongside with some new game modes.
Of course, the All Star Battle Mode is thefocus ofJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, yet there’s also an Arcade Mode, Online Mode, and Gallery Mode. Gallery Mode allows players to see the character models of their favoriteJoJo’s Bizarre Adventurecharacters without them taking a punch to the face. With over fifty characters to look at, any player who wants to see every model will likely spend some time in Gallery Mode.
