Summary
One of the defining elements ofCyberpunk 2077is the many choices and consequences main character V is presented with, and one dialogue option can lock players out ofPhantom Liberty’s main plotline entirely. CD Projekt Red finally released the long-awaitedCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertystory DLC earlier this week, allowing players to exploreNight City’s infamous Dogtown districtand investigate the mysterious crash landing of an orbital shuttle alongside Idris Elba’s FIA agent Solomon Reed.
Phantom Libertyhas a lot to offer fans of the baseCyberpunk 2077, with its primary plot campaign clocking in at roughly 10 to 15 hours. During that time, V and their virtual companion Johnny Silverhand can strike up an uneasy alliance with the New United Statesgovernment and struggle to survive against Dogtown’s criminal element usingV’s new Quickhacks and vehicular combat options. Many tough choices will have to be made during this trek through Night City’s deadliest location, and one decision could leave players completely blocked fromPhantom Liberty’s primary content altogether.

As reported in IGN’sCyberpunk 2077gameplay guide, V is given the option to completely walk away from their Dogtown mission duringPhantom Liberty’s “Lucretia My Reflection” chapter. Here, Solomon Reed asks V if their efforts are “worth it,” to whichCyberpunk 2077’s playable protagonistcan respond by saying, “Know what, Reed? You’re right. Somethin' real wonky ‘bout this. I’m out.” Other characters will then ask if V is sure they want to walk away, including Johnny Silverhand, and V can reiterate their choice with the line “Made my decision.”
By selecting this dialogue option, V and Solomon Reed will part ways, and the current objective will be marked as a failed mission. At this point, the player will be completely blocked fromPhantom Liberty’s main plotline. While they will still be able to explore Dogtown and completePhantom Liberty’s new Gigs and sidequests, the player will no longer be able to proceed with the primary storyline without starting a new game.
Cyberpunk 2077offers players many choices, either through customizing V’s appearance and backstory or deciding which of Night City’s many criminal factions to ally with. Even the baseCyberpunk 2077’s ending is largely left to the player to decide through V’s dialogue options, and it appears that their journey through Dogtown can be cut short as well. Players who wish to play through the entirety ofPhantom Liberty’s main quest are advised to watch what they say around Solomon Reed during the “Lucretia My Reflection” mission, as one of the available answers to the agent’s big question could leave them completely locked out of the DLC’s primary plotline for good.
