The highly anticipatedApex Legends Mobileofficially launched earlier this month, expanding the wildly popular battle royale title to cover the sizable market of mobile gaming. To give this new title its own unique identity, it is understandable that new facets of content were introduced to the mobile version that are not present within the console and PC versions of the game.
One of the key distinctions between other versions ofApex Legendsand its mobile version is the introduction of a brand new playable Legend within the latter. This new legend, named Fade, is exclusive to the mobile game, and many fans have noticed a potential link between this new legend and an older fan-favorite playable Legend named Wraith.

Overview of Apex Legends Mobile
Apex Legends Mobilewas initially teased in May 2019, and fans are understandably excited to finally get their hands on the game after three years of anticipation. In all, this new title boasts 10 playable Legends at launch. Veteran fans of the franchise will recognize a large majority of these characters from the PC and console versions ofApex Legends, with only one of them being new and mobile exclusive.
The returning Legends fromApex Legendsare Bangalore, Caustic, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Mirage, Pathfinder, Octane, Wraith, and Bloodhound. While this may seem like a comparatively limited roster when considering the 21 playable legends in the other versions ofApex, it is safe to assume that other characters will be added over time. Given the intense success of other battle royales such asFortniteandPUBG: Battlegroundsupon releasing mobile versions, it is no wonder thatApexhas decided to do the same.

Fade in Apex Legends Mobile
The mobile-exclusive Legend that is set tolaunch withApex Legends Mobileis called Fade. A male human Legend, Fade is known as the “Phasing Punisher.” Many of Fade’s abilities are centered around high-paced agility, often being centered around phase shifting. Fade’s passive ability is called Slipstream, allowing him a movement speed boost after sliding.
Fade’s tactical ability is Flash Back, which allows him to “rewind” his movementakin to Tracer inOverwatch. In addition to this, Fade’s ultimate ability is Phase Chamber, which can send nearby legends to the Void. In order to unlock Fade as a playable Legend withinApex Legends Mobile, players will have to reach level 25 on the game’s battle pass. As many fans ofApexwill note, these aforementioned abilities fit the framework of another Legend, Wraith, to quite a large degree.

The Connection Between Fade and Wraith
Wraith is a long-time playable Legend withinApex Legendswho closely shares many characteristics, at least ability wise, with the newly implemented Fade. As a result of experimentation, Wraith was granted the ability to become in tune with versions of herself from parallel dimensions, and as a result she came into contact with a “Voidwalker” version of herself. This version of Wraith granted her the ability to phase shift, as well as the ability to manipulate a dimensional gulf known as the Void.
These exact elements of Wraith’s lore, and thus her abilities, are mimicked within the moveset of Fade. With Fade possessing the ability to move back in time, it can be inferred that he has the same mysterious control over phase shifting, greatly connecting him to the established background of Wraith. In conjunction to this, Fade also has control over the Void with his ultimate ability, in the exact same way thatWraith does with her tactical and passive abilities. Their mutual power over the Void may point to a more detailed relationship that Respawn Entertainment will reveal over time.
Apex Legends Mobileis available to play on Android and iOS devices.
