Update 1.25 forHorizon Forbidden Westis now live and it fixes a wide variety of issues present in the game.Horizon Forbidden Westreceived positive reviews upon its launch in February 2022, and developer Guerrilla Games released an expansion titledBurning Shoresin April 2023.
Since the game came out, Guerrilla Games has rolled out several patches forHorizon Forbidden Westthat fix bugs and add new features. As an example,patch 1.21 forHorizon Forbidden Westadded some useful quality-of-life improvements, such as an option that lets users pick up loot automatically, along with a thalassophobia mode and other accessibility features. Patch 1.25 forHorizon Forbidden Westis now available, with the aim of fixing an assortment of issues across different parts of the game.

The full patch notes for update 1.25 ofHorizon Forbidden Westdetail fixes for a variety of issues related to its main quest, side activities, performance, UI, and more. This update fixes bugs that were present in themain story of theBurning ShoresDLC, such as some objectives not getting marked as completed despite players finishing them. As far as open-world activities, patch 1.25 forHorizon Forbidden Westfixes a problem that caused chests to spawn below the geometry, in addition to some issues that were preventing gamers from progressing further.
This update also fixes an issue where the weapon wheel displayed an incorrect amount of ammo for the Specter Gauntlet. For gamers yet to play the DLC, the Specter Gauntlet is anew weapon added in theBurning Shoresexpansion, and it’s one of the best new additions to Aloy’s arsenal along with The Emperor’s Reign Hunter Bow. Finally, patch 1.25 forHorizon Forbidden Westfixes some miscellaneous problems, such as instances where an incorrect sound effect would play upon picking Dye Flowers.
Guerrilla Games has released several updates forHorizon Forbidden Westsince theBurning ShoresDLC came out. Launched on May 17,Patch 1.24 forHorizon Forbidden Westincluded a ton of fixes as well, and update 1.25 looks to be on a similar level. While many of these patches aim to fix issues present in the new expansion, some make other general improvements to the game.
Fans of the series should note that asequel toHorizon Forbidden Westis currently in development at the studio. As Sony has not officially unveiled the title, not much else is known about the game, and it’ll probably take a few years for the sequel to come out.
