Guinaifen, a 4-star character introduced in theHonkai: Star Rail1.4 update, plays a support role with a focus on applying the Burn debuff to increase the team’s damage-over-time (DoT) potential, similar to Hook. As a Nihility character, her optimal light cones are in line with characters like Kafka and Sampo, reflecting her DoT utility. Nevertheless, when she applies DoT, her overall damage through her kit is also increased.

“We Will Meet Again” light cone is an option for Guinaifen, but it doesn’t directly enhance her damage-over-time (DoT) abilities. It can be used effectively if players want to increase Guinaifen’s overall damage output, as she scales with ATK and can benefit from her Basic ATK and Skill for additional damage.
However, it’s important to note that this light cone ispart of the Battle Pass, and it may not be maximally superimposed early on. If players have access to other light cones with some superimpositions, those options may perform better for Guinaifen’s specific role as a DoT support character.

Increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 20% and increases DoT by 24%.
To maximize Guinaifen’s damage potential and ensure that she inflicts Burn consistently, players can benefit from light cones that provide additional Effect Hit Rate. This will be especially useful against enemies with resistance to DoT effects as otherwise Guinaifen’s skill on its own actually has 100% chance to inflict Burn. As such, “Eyes of The Prey” is a great light cone option for Guinaifen, as it not only enhances her ability to inflict Burn but also increases the DoT damage without any specific conditions. This makes it an excellent choice for Guinaifen, particularly at high superimpositions.
For every debuff the target enemy has, the DMG dealt by the wearer increases by 12%, stacking up to 3 time(s). This effect also applies to DoT.
“Good Night and Sleep Well” is another excellent light cone option for Guinaifen, especially when she is paired with other characters who can inflict other DoT effects outside of Burn, such as with Kafka or Sampo, as this light cone allows Guinaifen to deal more damage as long as the enemies are stacked with different DoT or debuff effects.
It offers a well-rounded approach to enhancing Guinaifen’s performance and showcases the full potential of her kit, particularly when used in team compositions withother Nihility characters. It’s worth noting that however, even without other Nihility characters it is still quite solid, since in particular withGuinaifen’s first eidolon, she can apply an Effect RES debuff, which can also increase the amount of stacks for this light cone. This makes it a valuable and all-round choice, especially among 4-star rarity light cones.

“Solitary Healing” is one of the best 5-star light cones for Guinaifen, and it’s a completely free-to-play option, obtainable and max superimposable throughHerta Bonds in the Simulated Universe Store. This light cone offers several benefits for Guinaifen, includingincreased Break Effect.
Two of its conditions are highly relevant to increasing Guinaifen’s damage potential, as she needs to use her Burst to enhance the DoT damage further, and when an enemy with Guinaifen’s DoT effect is defeated (not necessarily by Guinaifen herself), she regenerates energy, allowing her to consistently apply the damage increase. Given that Guinaifen inflicts burn on adjacent enemies, it’s recommended to switch targets frequently to ensure that all enemies are affected by DoT as much as possible.

Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 24%. After every attack launched by wearer, their SPD increases by 4.8%, stacking up to 3 times. If the wearer hits an enemy target that is not afflicted by Erode, there is a 100% base chance to inflict Erode to the target. Enemies afflicted with Erode are also considered to be Shocked and will receive Lightning DoT at the start of each turn equal to 60% of the wearer’s ATK, lasting for 1 turn(s).
“Patience Is All You Need,“while Kafka’s signature light cone, also works as one of the best options for Guinaifen. It increases her overall damage and speed, with an added specific boost to the DoT damage, making it a well-rounded choice for players looking to maximize Guinaifen’s potential.
However, it’s worth noting that in a team with both Guinaifen and Kafka, Kafka should ideally use “Patience Is All You Need,” while Guinaifen can use one of the other available light cones for optimal synergy.
