One of the reasons why the upcomingHogwarts Legacyis such an exciting game is because of the time period it’s exploring. Instead of retreading the ground that was already covered in the books and films,Hogwarts Legacyis set in the 1800s, allowing the game developers to tell an entirely original story in the Wizarding World.
SinceHogwarts Legacyis set in the 1800s, it’s no surprise that it won’t feature iconic characters from theHarry Potteruniverse like the titular Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, or Hermione Granger. But while these memorable characters from theHarryPotterbooks and movies won’t be featured in theHogwarts Legacyvideo game, that doesn’t mean that their ancestors won’t make appearances. In fact, it’s already been teased thatHogwarts Legacywill feature the Weasley family in some capacity.

While discussing theHogwarts Legacycompanionsand other characters that players will meet in the game, Avalanche Software said, “You may even come across some familiar names, like a Weasley or two.” The Weasley family is one of the oldest magical families in existence, so it makes sense that they would be featured inHogwarts Legacy. They will most likely be featured in the Gryffindor house, so anyone interested in seeing them may want to join up with Gryffindor after they’ve been sorted by the Sorting Hat.
It’s entirely possible that other famous magical families may be represented inHogwarts Legacyas well, though if they are, they haven’t been mentioned yet. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how theWeasley familyis represented inHogwarts Legacy, and hardcoreHarry Potterfans will no doubt be excited to meet new members of the family.
Hogwarts Legacy’s setting means that the Weasley family members that fans meet in the game won’t be anyone seen in theHarry Potterbooks or films, but there will besomefamiliar faces in the game.Hogwarts Legacywill have ghosts that were previously established in the books and movies, like theGryffindor house ghost Nearly-Headless Nickand Professor Cuthbert Binns, who is the longtime History of Magic professor at the school.
Besides these obvious connections, there are rumors thatHogwarts Legacy’s villains will somehow be aprecursor to the Death Eatersthat were featured in the main seriesHarry Pottermedia. Whatever the case may be, fans will find out a lot more when they play the game for themselves later this year.
