Summary
Hogwarts Legacyalready threw the kitchen sink into its deeply ambitious open-world action-RPG. It’s difficult to imagine what more a sequel could do to tailor the series any further to the fans who’ve become deeply indebted to theHarry PotterIP, and hearing that there are plans to do more withHogwarts Legacyor games like itis no surprise considering how successful the game was last year. Hopefully Avalanche gets an opportunity to make a second action-RPG in the wizarding world since that was a great genre for the IP to inhabit, and one feature could be as functional as it would be cute.
Hogwarts Legacyprobably could have been as comprehensive as it was without including as much care for magical creatures as it did, and yet how it manages a wealth of critters and beasts is great all the same. Players technically don’t have to engage with magical creatures all that much if they don’t want to, but doing so helps them get the most out of the wealth of gear loot they find and craft. Speaking of wealth, theshiny-item-hoarding Nifflerappears as one of many magical creatures, but having it be a companion that players can bring along with them on their adventures would makeHogwarts Legacy 2fascinating.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Needs an Adorable Pocket Niffler Companion
Hogwarts Legacy 2 Should Have Student Pets in General
It’s been a criticism of the game since it was released that players couldn’t have their own personal pets—traditionally either a cat, toad, or owl in theHarry Potterseries. However, players technically get far more eclectic pets if they choose to stable a bunch ofmagical creatures inHogwarts Legacy’s Room of Requirement Vivariums.
Of course, any tiny shred ofHarry Potternostalgia not explicitly offered inHogwarts Legacywill be desired in a sequel, and being able to have a cat, toad, or owl welcome players whenever they revisit their common room dormitory would be pleasant. An owl would seemingly be the OP choice for a pet since it could hypothetically retrieve parcels for the player, though it would probably be kept in the common room otherwise.
That’s the real problem with all of the magical creatures players interact with: they’re isolated from main game events and don’t get to tag along with the player on their adventures, which is what a true pet companion could potentially offer inHogwarts Legacy 2. Specifically, a Niffler would be the perfect size and have the ability to help players with a key gripe in gameplay.
A Niffler Companion Could Be Multifaceted in Hogwarts Legacy 2
Because Nifflers have a compulsion to collect shiny objects, it would be incredible to see a player’s Niffler companion dart around or appear and disappear to swipe up a defeated enemy’s loot.Fantastic Beastsdemonstrated how adorably cunning and crafty Nifflers can be, and while having one as a pet could lead to any number of mischievous scenarios it would also be a fantastic means of sweeping up loose loot and Galleons nearby without the player needing to run over and scrounge it up themselves.
The Niffler could then be a great companion players don’t necessarily talk to but could react to events and be around asa supplementary character inHogwarts Legacy 2, maybe even stashing away key items or other plot-related goodies until later on. There’s so much aHogwarts Legacy 2could do with any cute pocket companion, and seeing a small magical creature accompany the player would be far more substantial than simply going back to feed and groom them intermittently.
