Final Fantasy 7 Remakestrays intentionally from the plot of the original, leading to different story beats. This has led to much discussion of what could be in the future, what events are solid in the timeline and which are fluid, anddiscussions on the living status of Zack Fair.
It’s safe to say the possibilities have sparked the imaginations of fans ofFinal Fantasy 7old and new. With events being changed, the story itself could wind up leading somewhere completely different, for better or for worse. Some fans have not stopped there though, but have let their imaginations range way outside the box, which is what brought us a particularly fun piece of fan art.

A fan who goes by u/jamesswazz has created a mashup image ofFinal Fantasy 7 RemakeandFinal Fantasy 15showing the parties from both games nearby each other. Like acomparison between characters on different consoles inFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, it’s a fun glimpse into past and present at the same time. TheFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeparty is walking away from Midgar in the background, while the party fromFinal Fantasy 15watches them from their car, going the other way. The post is titled “FF7 remake part 2 leaked image.”
While it’s obviously created as a joke, and the juxtaposition is funny, it also doesn’t feel out of place for either game. TheFinal Fantasy 7 Remakecrew is set to encounter strange things outside of Midgar, and another adventuring party hardly seems like the strangest thing they would find. Meanwhile, theFinal Fantasy 15crew constantly sees oddities on their road trip, to the point where few things about theFF7 Remakeparty would turn their heads for long. It’s likefinding a truck fromFF7 Remakein real life: strange and cool, but not the weirdest thing in the world.
Comments on the Reddit post where the picture was uploaded are mostly positive and many are dedicated to speculating how the parties would interact. Most point out howNoctis and Cloud have traits in commonand would likely see strange mirrors in each other.
Unfortunately, even with the timeline ofFinal Fantasy 7uncertain inFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, a full on crossover like this is unlikely to exist outside of theDissidia Final Fantasyseries. Still, withone ofFF15’s voice actors possibly being in anotherFinal Fantasyproject, it’s possible a small piece ofFF15will be in futureFF7releases.
