Sony has released a brand-new update forGod of War Ragnarokthat finally adds New Game+ to the game, raises the level cap, and more.God of War Ragnarokreleased late last year to widespread critical acclaim and took home many prestigious awards. It remains one of the industry’s highest-rated games of recent years, but even so, there is always room for improvement.
With many fans having completed theGod of War Ragnarokstorylong ago, there has been a call for the game to incorporate a New Game+ mode. This way,God of War Ragnarokplayers could relive Kratos and Atreus' journey, but with their hard-earned equipment in tow. Now, five months afterGod of War Ragnarokfirst launched, a new update has been released that adds New Game+ to the mix.

WhenGod of War Ragnarokplayers start a New Game+ run, they will find themselves equipped with Kratos' Armor of the Black Bear cloak featured in the game’s opening scene. Fans have been asking for Kratos' cloak to be added toGod of War Ragnarokfor quite some time, so its addition will likely be greatly appreciated by the community. Those looking for a greater challenge can purchase Power Level 1 Spartan Armor from the Huldra Brothers’ Shop, along with new Ares Armor and the Spartan Aspis shield. Those that manage todefeat Gna the Valkyrie Queenand complete Remnants of Asgard can also get special Zeus Armor for Kratos.
God of War RagnarokNew Game+players can look forward to many other changes, including enemy tweaks, an expanded Niflheim arena, and new enchantments. Burdens are a new kind of enchantment that actually give players negative status effects in case they want to up the challenge in the game even further. Those who are focused on simply increasing Kratos' power should note that theGod of War Ragnaroklevel cap has been increased with the update, so now all Level 9 equipment can be upgraded to the “Plus” level.
God of War Ragnarok: What Carries Over in New Game+
WhenGod of War Ragnarokplayers start a New Game+ run, they can expect to keep all their equipment, weapons, and skills from their previous adventure, with some exceptions. Sonic and Hex Arrows will not be available at the start of the game, and while players will have theDraupnir Spearout of the gate, they won’t be able to actually unlock any areas with it until they’ve progressed far enough in the main story.
All things considered, it sounds like this bigGod of War Ragnarokupdate could very well convince players to return to the game. And with the update, anyone that still has yet to try theaward-winningGod of War Ragnaroknow has even more reasons to do so.
