Summary
God of Waris one of the biggest and most critically acclaimed franchises in the world. Kratos, the protagonist of the games, has had to travel through various realms to achieve his goals. Sometimes he was aided by the gods; other times, they were hellbent on killing him.
Due to Kratos' actions, many of the celestial beings turn against him. This led to many epic battles,in which Kratos inevitably killedthem. Each god had a special power, but not all of them posed a similar threat to the Spartan’s life.

Kratos has not been included as he no longer holds the status of a god.
8Athena
Athena was the goddess of Wisdom and War. For the majority of the Greek saga, Athena was an ally to Kratos. She was clever and always weighed all the options before taking action. Athena also had incredible foresight, which made it almost impossible to catch her off-guard.
As the goddess of War, Athena was also proficient in the art of fighting. In Greek mythology, Athena was superior to her brother, Ares, in every single way. However, theGod of Warfranchise did not use her as a fighter, which turned out to be the better decision in the long run.

Baldur did not have many flashy powers like the rest of the gods in the franchise, but he was the only character who could fight Kratos without the fear of dying. This was mainly due to his mother’s magic, which ensured thathe could not be killedor harmed by any weapon.
Baldur withstood a flurry of attacks from Kratos, which was extremely commendable. He was able to use the runes on his body to move at high speeds. Baldur was also exceptionally skilled at tracking individuals, and Odin was extremely frustrated when he died.

Freya is an important character in bothGod of War (2018)andGod of War Ragnarok. She is the Vanir goddess of War, Magic, Death, and Love. Freya was married to Odin, but the latter’s actions drove a wedge between them.
Freya is proficient at using magic, some of which she taught Odin. She specializes in spells, and there is no other Norse god or goddess that comes close to her. Freya is also knowledgeable about herbs and other items. She can use her wisdom to create weapons and other healing potions. She is also one of the few characters in theGod of Warseries that Kratos holds in high regard.

Hades was the Greek god of the Underworld, which meant that he had complete authority over the souls that entered his domain. His physical prowess was rather impressive, as he managed to fight and subjugate his father, Cronos, who was a Titan. Needless to say, Cronos would have died if Atlas had not interfered.
Hades' ability to steal souls made him extremely dangerous. He used this power many times to help Olympus and fulfill his own desires. When Kratos fought Hades, the latter was unharmed because of his ridiculous regenerative abilities. Kratos had to steal Hades' weapons to drag out his soul; otherwise, the Spartan would have never beaten him.

Also known asthe All-Father, Odinwas the leader of the Aesir. He was obsessed with the idea of obtaining more power, and he was willing to get his hands dirty to obtain it. Odin’s most notable trait was his intelligence. Throughout the games, Mimir stated that Odin was a master of deception and was not to be trusted. He could trick anyone with his lies, and they wouldn’t know it until it was too late.
Despite appearing to be a frail man, Odin was immensely dangerous. He was able to keep up with the likes of Kratos, Freya, and Atreus at the same time. Odin was also proficient in magic, and he could utilize ancient and dark magic.

Thor is the most famous Norse god, and he has been a part of many popular franchises.InGod of War, hewas used by Odin to do his dirty work. Odin poisoned Thor’s mind with hatred for the giants, which resulted in the latter killing almost all of them. Thor was feared throughout the Nine Realms because of his absurd power.
Thor’s weapon of choice was the Mjölnir, an extraordinary hammer crafted by Brok and Sindri. Thor could throw the hammer at his enemy, after which it would return to him. As the Norse god of thunder, Thor could even infuse his body with electricity, which acted as a kind of armor.

Poseidon was the god of Water and Earthquakes. He had the power to control water and bring about tidal waves that could annihilate an entire city in minutes. When Kratos brought the Titans to Mount Olympus, Poseidon showed the full extent of his power as he took down two behemoths without any help.
Poseidon then turned his attention toward Gaia, and he immobilized her completely. It is safe to say that, without Kratos' aid, she would have died. Poseidon also possessed superhuman stamina and endurance, making him one of the strongest gods inGod of War.

Zeus was the ruler of Olympusand the king of all the gods. He possessed the power to control lightning and thunder. InGod of War1, Zeus acted as an ally. He supported Kratos in his quest to take down Ares, the then-god of War. Aside from his special abilities, Zeus also had full control over every Olympian.
They feared his power, which kept them in line. InGod of War 2and3, Kratos had to fight his father, and it was indubitably the toughest challenge of his journey. Zeus’s physical abilities made it almost impossible for Kratos to gain an edge. He was also an extremely cunning man, as evidenced by his plot to take down Kratos and bring his life to an end without much effort.
