Xianyun, formerly known as the Cloud Retainer, steps into the playable character roster inGenshin Impact’s 4.4 version update, coinciding with the annual flagship event, the Lantern Rite. Anticipation has been building among players, some eagerly looking forward to having her as a playable option, while others are keen on utilizing her support abilities.

Primarily a support character, Xianyun focuses on enhancingplunging damage for her team memberswhile offering healing effects to all teammates, with both area-of-effect and specific benefits to the active character, predominantly through her elemental burst. For players contemplating significant investments in this character, the question arises of whether it’s worthwhile to unlock her constellations to further amplify her support capabilities. In terms of deciding about pulling for Xianyun’s constellations or allocating resources elsewhere, it’s crucial to understand the specific benefits each constellation offers. Here’s a breakdown of what players can expect from her constellations.

Are Xianyun Constellations Worth It In Genshin Impact?

When it comes to Xianyun’s constellations, while her early constellations are worth considering, especially for players keen on investing in this character, they are not mandatory. While the initial two constellations enhance her support abilities and provide a bit more comfort, her fourth constellation may not be justifiable in terms of its impact and the resources required.

Her sixth constellation becomes crucial for those interested in utilizing Xianyun as an on-field DPS character, especially when equipped with a high ATK% weapon orher own signature catalyst. It’s a decision players should carefully make, considering the overall context of their team composition and playstyle. The constellations that increase her elemental skill (C5) and elemental burst (C3) levels are also not recommended to invest in.

Anemo

C1 - Purifying Wind

Xianyun’s first constellation grants an additional charge to her elemental skill, allowing for more energy generation and, consequently, more consistent activation of her elemental burst. As such it can be considered as a “quality of life” constellation, especially for players that may otherwise struggle with her energy regeneration. Additionally, this constellation not only enhances her combat capabilities but also serves as auseful overworld exploration tool, if players often find themselves requiring to scale high terrain. However, it is worth noting that for this purpose specifically, Wanderer still will work more effectively.

C2 - Aloof From the World

Alongside being her lengthiest constellation, Xianyun’s second constellation is where she also sees the benefits, as it boosts both her own ATK stat and the plunging damage buff she provides. Accordingly, as she entirely scales with ATK stat, this amplifies her healing abilities andenhances her support role, enabling other characters in the party to benefit from increased damage output. Many players might find this to be an optimal stopping point for constellations, striking a balance between power and resource efficiency.

C4 - Mystery Millet Gourmet

The fourth constellation focuses solely on increasingXianyun’s healing potential, as it allows her to heal the the team members additionally. Despite the apparent benefits on paper, considering her already substantial healing capabilities and the potentially high investment required to reach this constellation, it becomes a low-priority choice.

C6 - Cloudkeeper’s Spirit

The sixth and final constellation, much like those of many other support characters, presents a mixed scenario as it focuses turning a primarily support character to a DPS character, similar to thesixth constellation of Kazuha. Its value depends on whether players intend to utilize Xianyun as an on-field DPS character. If players view her primarily as a support character and aim to synergize her with other DPS characters, Her sixth constellation does not present much value and can be easily skipped. On the other hand, if players are interested in utilizing Xianyun as a main DPS / or ultimately want to keep her on-field for the most part as an Elemental Reaction driver, it could be worth consideration, as this constellation particularly focuses on increasing Xianyun’s own damage, and is focused on utilizing her Elemental Skill as often as possible. Ultimately, the decision should align with the preferred playstyle and team dynamics of each individual player.
