Who Is The Herald?
The Herald was first spotted inFortniteChapter 3 Season 3, during the cinematic intro trailer. As the protagonists all began to celebrate their victory over the Imagined Order, the camera pans out, showing the heroes inside an orb in a darkened room. A pink face then comes into frame, showing that The Herald is watching the celebrations, presumably plotting something sinister. Toward the end of Season 3, rifts started opening up across Artemis island. This was the work of the omnipotent entity known as The Zero Point, who aims to protect all reality inside the Omniverse. These rifts were designed to warn those within Reality Zero that their world would soon come under threat of The Herald.
At the beginning ofFortniteChapter 3 Season 4, The Herald has already arrived in Reality Zero. Her arrival causes astrange Chrome substanceto spread across different areas of Artemis island. Seeing this as a clear threat, The Scientist takes a sample of the Chrome back to his lab for analysis, but before any tests can be done, the Chrome breaks out of containment and starts spreading across the lab. Before they can realize what’s going on, The Scientist, The Origin, and The Visitor are all consumed by the Chrome, but Paradigm manages to escape.
As Paradigm escapes into another reality, The Herald emerges from the Chrome, having already built a series of strong Chrome walls around her. The Herald has now built her fortress where Sanctuary once stood, renaming itThe Herald’s Sanctum. From here, The Herald can be seen monitoring the Reality Tree via her Chrome, which has begun to spread even further across the island. It seems as though this is just the first step in The Herald’s master plan, and that the next phase may revolve around consuming the Reality Tree. Its roots could possibly be used to take over the entire island, and eventually other realities.
InFortniteitself, players can find The Herald in her Sanctum. Once aggravated, a boss fight will begin, and The Herald will use her Chrome abilities to try and defeat the player. The Herald uses the Chrome to create a bubble shield around herself, and also form two attack wolves who have large amounts of health. Defeating The Herald will grant the player a Mythic EvoChrome Burst Rifle to use during the match, as well as some Chrome Splashes.
