A wild Charizard has appeared in the form of an incredible resin figure that captures the power of this fan-favoritePokemon. It will, unfortunately, cost fans much more than a Pokeball to capture this figure if it has not already sold out.

Pokemonbegan celebrating its 25th anniversary just a few weeks ago and has promised that surprises and new merchandise will be released over the course of the year. It makes perfect sense that The Pokemon Company would choose one ofPokémon RedandBlue’sstartersdue to their continued popularity.

The figure is being made by First Four Figures (which announced the figure on its Twitter) and designed by Pokemon Center and can be pre-ordered now. The figure, called “Chairzard Rising Flames,” stands around 12 inches tall and features LED lighting effects that illuminate the fire it breathes. “Charizard Rising Flames” is the firstPokemonresin figure by First four Figures and is currently exclusive to the Pokemon Center website in the US and Canada with a price tag of $249.99. Those who wish to catch the figure will need to act fast before the pre-order sells out.

First Four Figures has worked on collectibles for many different video game franchises, includingCastlevania, Dark Souls, andSonic The Hedgehog. The company alsorevealed theMetroidSamus Aran helmet, a life-size replica of the character’s iconic helmet, just last month. Pokemonreleased in Japan on February 27th, 1996, and the series’s 25th anniversary has already delivered on some major reveals and surprises. Last month,Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlwere revealedduring a Pokemon Direct alongside a possible open-world game, namedPokemon Legends Arceus. While some fans are hyped about the upcoming games, others are voicing concerns over both games' graphics. The celebrations continued the next day with a virtual concert feating Post Malone where more artists were revealed for the upcomingP25music album.

While many fans are sure to be thrilled with “Charizard Rising Flames,” there is also a backlash forming against the creature. Many people are upset and frustrated that Charizard is favored above otherPokemon, including the two other original starters Venusaur and Blastoise. There is definitely a case to be made about favoritism as Charizard received two mega evolutions inPokemon XandY. It was also the only one of the three starters to have a Gigantamax inPokemon SwordandShield(until the DLCs addressed that). So it is safe to say some fans will be once again sad to see the fire-type chosen above the other two starters.
