This was posted on the officialFinal Fantasywebsite, where series producer Akitoshi Kawazu and series art director Toshiyuki Itahana celebrated the occassion with some messages to the fans. Kazwazu started off by voicing his personal regrets for not providing a newFinal Fantasy Crystal Chroniclesgame, stating that he doesn’t have the time to do the things he’d like to with the series. He believes the cast of the spin-off series deserves another chance to shine, but has been unable to provide a new adventure with them. He concludes his message with the hope that he’ll be able to create a new adventure with them one day.
Art director Itahana shared a brand-new illustration of variouscharacters fromFinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, where they are all walking on a beach while enjoying the summer season. He notes that many of the characters he drew were ones that he hadn’t drawn in such a long time, so it felt like reuniting with old friends when he was creating the illustration.
The most recent entry in this spin-off series is the aforementioned remaster. Theremastered version ofCrystal Chroniclessaw mixed to average reviewson consoles, and while the game did receive some extra polish, it wasn’t enough. Many fans took issues with the remaster’s new online multiplayer introducing problems that weren’t present in the original. The lack of a local co-op option for the remastered version didn’t do it many favors, either. Hopefully, Square Enix can give the spin-off series another chance with a brand-new game in the future.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Editionis available now on PS4, Switch and Mobile Devices.
