During the 2023 edition of The Game Awards, Square Enix released a new trailer forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirththat gave fans a closer look at the characters Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind for the first time in the upcoming entry. Within the last months of 2023, Square Enix built more momentum surrounding the upcoming entry, with new trailers that revealed details to tide players over until the game’s February 29 launch. With speculation surrounding the plot compared to the original release ofFinal Fantasy 7, it remains to be seen how the story will play out inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. With the iron still hot surrounding its victory, Square Enix gave fans another taste of what to expect inFF7 Rebirth.

The new trailer forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthhad over two minutes of runtime. It starts with a flashback of Zack Fair meeting his supposed end at the hands of a horde of Shinra troops. Following that, the camera focused on Vincent Valentine’s face, with his red eyes and his pistol focused on Cloud and the party. In a previous trailer, Vincent made his entrance, and sharp fans pointed out thatMatt Mercer was the voice before Square Enix confirmed it. Some shots of Kalm, Junon Harbor, and the Gold Saucer were also shown during the trailer. During the Gold Saucer segment, the game’s main theme, “No Promises to Keep”, was briefly revealed and performed by Aerith.
Furthermore, the rough and rugged pilotCid Highwind made his first appearancein the new series. As a former Shinra pilot who took up residence in Rocket Town, Cid joins the party following an attempt to steal the bi-plane called The Tiny Bronco. The plane was then shot down in a scuffle with Shinra, but could still be used as a boat to travel across some shallow waters. Square Enix then confirmed that J. Michael Tatum would portray Cid inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Tatum takes over for Chris Edgerly, who voiced the foul-mouthed pilot inFinal Fantasy 7: Advent ChildrenandKingdom Hearts 2.

Between the reveal of Cid and Vincent, and the implications ofhowFinal Fantasy 7’s most shocking scene could play out, the hype surroundingFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthhas reached a fever pitch. Only time will tell what else Square Enix will reveal before the game’s launch.
