WARNING: The following post contains SPOILERS for Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker.A handful ofFinal Fantasy 14players took to social media to share hilarious clips of what happened to them whenever they did the “/blowkiss” emote at the second boss of Thaleia, the latest raid to come to the game in the Growing Light content update. The clip went viral, asFinal Fantasy 14players pointed out the reason why they believe the Easter egg was put in.
InFinal Fantasy 14Patch 6.5, players were given some new challenges to take on. From the Abyssal Fracture trial to the Thaleia alliance raid,Final Fantasy 14players saw two ongoing story arcs come to a conclusion. In addition, content including the dungeon Aloalo Island, the Gilded Araya trial, and the collaboration withFall Guys, will be added toFinal Fantasy 14in future patches to tide players over until the launch of theDawntrailexpansion. However, as players faced off against four bosses in the Thaleia alliance raid, some discovered a unique interaction.
Twitter user FSHYbeans shared a clip from another user named RhalgrsDragon that showed what can happen when a player does the “/blowkiss” emote at the second boss of Thaleia, Llymlaen the Navigator. In the clip, RhalgrsDragon used the emote while targeting Llymlaen, which led the Navigator to chide the player with the line, “Oi, cut it out, you!” The boss would then stun the offending player and deal near-lethal damage to them with the ability called Navigator’s Dagger. FSHYbeans pointed out that Llymlaen’s ability shares a name withthe fish thatFF14’s anglers can catchout in the world. The name is all the more fitting when considering the fact that Llymlaen the Navigator is the patron deity of Limsa Lominsa, a major seaside hub city.
This was further corroborated by Aitaikimochi on Twitter, who posted that the Japanese version of Llymlaen’s line was translated to “Hey, focus now!” instead of the more irate line the English version got. However, there were noachievements rewarded toFinal Fantasy 14playerswho survived the Navigator’s Dagger. But, the fact that the developers put the Navigator’s Dagger Easter egg intoFF14Patch 6.5 showed how much of the lore was considered during the development of the “Myths of the Realm” alliance raid series.
It remains to be seen if there are other interactions with the Twelve forFinal Fantasy 14players to discover. Withthe London Fanfest right around the corner,Final Fantasy 14players will most assuredly have more Easter eggs and secrets to uncover in the future.
Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version launching in Spring 2024.
