Genshin Impactjust revealed a brand-new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated 4.0 update which will introduce the new region Fontaine, and the trailer is packed with new and rumored characters coming to the game in the near future. While thenewGenshin Impacttrailerdoes not give any in-depth looks at any of the new characters, such as what their skills will be, it did drum up hype in the community among fans who are dying to learn more about the brand-new region and its inhabitants.

Now that HoYoverse has started to ramp up marketing forGenshin Impact’s big 4.0 update, more marketing material is being made available for the new faces seen in the “Overture Teaser: The Final Feast” trailer. While not every character shown has deep lore revealed just yet, there are bits and pieces scattered both in game and through external materials made available by HoYoverse to give players an idea as to who these characters are. There are also leaks that will be discussed in part below regarding whom these characters are, but all leaked content will be denoted and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Genshin Impact Freminet

Freminet

The first character to be shown in the trailer is Freminet, who is actually the younger brother of the two magician characters shown in the trailer, Lyney and Lynette. According to the drip marketing posted for Freminet, he is a professional diver in the region of Fontaine, which fits well with thenew diving mechanic coming in 4.0. While his siblings dazzle in the limelight, Freminet prefers isolation and does his best to avoid social interactions. Despite this, his calm demeanor, professionalism, and keen focus have earned him high praises in the region even though he does not take commissions from others. According to the art shown by HoYoverse, Freminet wields a Cryo vision and is seen brandishing The Bell, making him a claymore user.

Now that data from the 4.0 beta has started to surface, lots of character information has started to leak and circulate. According to some leaks, which should be taken with a grain of salt and are subject to change, Freminet’s kit deals both Cryo and Physical damage and has a focus on Frozen, Shatter, and Superconduct reactions. This is the first character inGenshin Impactto have a focus on Shatter specifically. While it seems he won’t excel at Shatter damage specifically, it is used to trigger his passive and constellations which will increase his overall damage output. Players will get to see more of Freminet when he isfeatured on the banners later in 4.0.

Genshin Impact Lynette

Lynette

Lynette is the second of three siblings shown in the trailer, and is the assistant to Lyney in his performances. Much like Freminet, Lynette is less focused on being the center of attention compared to her brother Lyney. Not much is known about Lynette as she keeps to herself, but a recent blog post by HoYoVerse seems to hint that Lynette often seeks to gather information from people who are too distracted by their conversations with Lyney. According to thedrip marketing for Lynette, she wields an Anemo vision. The real question is whether she has cat features like her siblings do.

According to recent leaks, Lynette is a sword user, and her kit is quite flashy despite her personality. She is a great team buffer for teams that are comprised of multiple elements. Her skill seems to be great for exploration, and her burst can swirl to apply multiple instances of the swirled element. Fortunately, for those that do not want to gamble on pulling this 4-star, leaks indicate that players will supposedly be able to earn afree copy of Lynette in Version 4.0.

Genshin Impact Lyney

Lyney

Lyney is the last of the three siblings shown off in the trailer, and he is the star of the show when it comes to entertainment in Fontaine. Lyney and Lynette’s magical performances are perhaps second only to the trials in the Court of Fontaine, and Lyney ensures that hecaptures the hearts of anyone who sees his performance. Lyney is the social, outgoing member of the trio, and serves as the dazzling star of the show in the magical troupe. The drip marketing for Lyney indicates that he wields a Pyro vision.

In terms of leaks, Lyney has been revealed as a 5-star Pyro Bow user.Lyney’s unique kitis actually set up to utilize a “mono-Pyro” team with at least two other Pyro users other than himself. In a similar sense to Ganyu, Lyney also uses a two-tiered charge shot. His skill and burst all deal even more Pyro damage and can even taunt enemies. One thing is for sure - if these leaks prove true, Lyney will certainly have a flashy kit to pair with his flashy personality.

Genshin Impact Navia

Navia is seen several times throughout the trailer, but in terms of lore we know little about her so far. The trailer is framed as such that she may have some sort of conflict with Clorinde, and perhaps by extension, the upper powers of Fontaine. Going frame-by-frame, Navia’s vision can be seen, and it appears she wieldsthe element of Geo, which lines up with what earlierGenshin Impactleaks indicated. According to some datamined information, Navia has some of the most lines of dialogue in Version 4.0, which means she will likely be a main character during the Traveler’s adventures in Fontaine, at least in 4.0.

Charlotte

While Charlotte may not be a new face for someGenshin Impactplayers, as she is a resident of Fontaine and is shown in the trailer she is worth mentioning here. Charlotte made her in-game debut as an NPC in the Version 3.7 “Duel! The Summoner’s Summit!” event. The Traveler assisted Charlotte in unraveling the mystery of the card back thieves that were plaguing the Genius Invocation tournament around the continent. Charlotte is a journalist who works for the popular publication “The Steambird” in Fontaine. During her time in 3.7, Charlotte was seen brandishing a Cryo vision.According to some earlyGenshin Impactleaks, Charlotte seems to be a support character of some kind, but not much is known publicly about her kit yet.

Wriothesley

Wriothesley has caused some debate on the internet since his first appearance in the trailer, as many fans are debating on whether he is possibly blind, or if he is just faking to poke fun at Sigewinne. Regardless, little is known about this snazzy gentleman, at least officially. His vision cannot be seen during the teaser trailer. According toGenshin Impactleakers, which should be taken with a grain of salt, Wriothesley wields a Cryo vision and brandishes a polearm as his weapon of choice.

Sigewinne

Much like Wriothesley, little is known about this adorable character from official channels. Essentially any information about Sigewinne comes from leaks, which indicate thatshe may be a Hydro Bow user. As with all leaks, this should not be taken as a solid confirmation.

Neuvillette

Neuvillette is thankfully a character is slightly more well-known compared to the past couple characters. Neuvillette is the Chief Justice of Fontaine, so he holds high standing in the Court of Fontaine, a region which holds justice in high regards (much like Freedom for Mondstadt, and Knowledge for Sumeru). In Nahida’s drip marketing, Neuvillette seems to hold some knowledge of Nahida, though it is not currently known if that quote was from before the events of the Sumeru Archon Quest, or after. If it is from before, then Neuvillette would have knowledge that not many individuals - even in the nation of Sumeru - would have. Neuvillette’s eyes also seem to have the star motif that is often associated with those of Khaenri’ah heritage.

In terms of leaked information, Neuvillette seems to be a Hydro user. However, leakers are conflicted in regard to his weapon type. Some have stated Claymore, while others have said Catalyst. It seems this is one character players will definitely have to wait and see on. He does have a fair amount of dialogue in the 4.0 quest line, so perhaps this will be more clear after thefirst part of Fontaine has launched.

Genshin Impact Charlotte

Clorinde

Clorinde certainly caught some attention after her debut in the trailer as she is one of the first (non-Fatui) character to be seen with a gun, perhaps making her the first playable character to have one at the very least. She is seen wielding an Electro vision in the trailer, which makes sense considering the lightning that is fired from her gun. She seems to be some sort of guard for the Court of Fontaine, perhaps one that worlds closely with the protection of Neuvillette considering how the two are shown in the trailer together. However, the trailer does not give any hint as to her actual weapon type or her rarity. In terms of leaks, the only ones seen so far for her indicate that she may be a 5-star, but it may be far too early to tell for her.

Arlecchino (The Knave)

A region wouldn’t be complete without a Fatui Harbinger causing some trouble, and in Fontaine, it appears the Traveler will get to know Arlecchino, The Knave, a little better. First appearing in the"A Winter Night’s Lazzo" teaser trailer, Arlecchino is one of the 11 Fatui Harbingers, though admittedly that number is no longer accurate for several reasons. She is the assumed 10th Harbinger based on what is known of the other Harbingers, and comments made by Childe in his dialogues, though this has not been explicitly confirmed. She is the proprietor of the House of the Hearth in Snezhnaya, an orphanage which takes in children from across the continent. Both The Wanderer and Childe describe Arlecchino as insane and ruthless, so her involvement in the Fontaine story arc is sure to be interesting. While hard to see, what appears to be a Pyro Vision (or perhaps Delusion) can be seen on her back during the trailer.

If leaks are to be trusted,Arlecchino will be a playable character, and leaks suggest that she will be a Pyro Sword user. Specifics of her kit are currently unknown, but some leakers indicate she may be more of a support than a DPS character. It seems Arlecchino is still a few updates away, so players will have to wait a bit longer to see more of this Harbinger.

Genshin Impact Wriothesley

Furina

Last on the list is Furina, who is shown briefly at the end of the trailer. Going solely by official material, little is known about Furina aside from her name, which was given as part of the VA announcement for her character. She is seen sitting high above the Court of Fontaine, even above Neuvillette, who admonishes her “levity” in the Court.

When diving into the leaks department, this character gets a lot more interesting. While it is assumed by most watching the trailers, leaks confirm that Furina is Focalors, the Hydro Archon and God of Justice.Leaked concept art for Focalorsline up with the design showcased in the trailer for Furina. Being the Hydro Archon, she of course wields Hydro. Neuvillette alludes to Focalors as being “prone to hysterics” in his text on Nahida’s drip marketing, and glimpses of that can be seen in the recent trailer. It seems Furina has a decent amount of dialogue lines in 4.0, so players will get to see this firsthand very soon.

Genshin Impact Sigewinne Wriothesley

And those are all the new characters shown off in the Fontaine teaser trailer. While the trailer does little to showcase what these characters will be capable of in-game, it has certainly built up some hype for theupcoming Fontaine update. While it is currently not known how characters will come into play, or when players will get to meet some of these characters, this trailer certainly drummed up hype for the highly anticipated Fontaine update coming toGenshin Impactin Version 4.0.

Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
