Summary
It’s official! The winner of theMinecraft2023 Mob Votehas been announced as the Armadillo. It’s an adorable, docile mob that players can’t help but fall in love with. This year’s vote, running from October 13th to October 15th, garnered the most participants it’s ever had. Over 5 million players participated to fight for their favorite. There were some pretty tough competitors this year, including the Crab and the Penguin. The Armadillo won by quite a large margin, gaining 42.4% of the vote! The Crab came second with 32.5%, followed by the Penguin with 25.2%.
Some fans were disappointed with the results, but it’s important not to lose hope. Players may remember the Biome Vote in 2019, whichintroduced some new and exclusive mobs, such as the Frog in the Swamp Biome. The Frog did indeed lose to Goats from the Mountain Biome but was later introduced into the game anyway! So, there’s still a chance players could see their favorites appear in future updates.

Features Of The Armadillo
The Armadillo is a sweet little mob with a comically large, brown body and stubby legs. Players will be able to find it roaming around the Savannah Biome, likely hiding in tall grass and minding its own business. They’re peaceful mobs, meaning they won’t attack players. Instead, they’ll curl up into a ball if startled. How cute is that?
One of the Armadillo’s most useful features is the special Scute that it drops when killed. This can be used tocraft the long-awaited Wolf Armor. Ever since Horse Armor was introduced in Version 1.6.1, players have been eagerly waiting for a special armor for their beloved canines. This will act as an added layer of protection for wolves when battling mobs together. It is also expected that there will be multiple color options, considering the many variations of Horse Armor available. Regardless, players are extremely pleased to finally have some new Wolf features and are excited to see how the developers will execute them.

Armadillo Release Date
While an official release date hasn’t been confirmed, the Armadillo is expected to be added in the main 1.21 update, which will occur in the early summer of 2024.
This seems to be accurate, as the previous vote winner in 2022 was added in the 1.20 update in July of the following year. Of course, the developers may decide to add the mob in earlier. So, keep an eye out for any announcements!

What To Expect In Version 1.21
Alongside the Armadillo, there are several new features expected to be released in the 1.21 update. In addition to the peaceful mob, there will be a hostile mob called the Breeze. From Mojang’s released videos, it appears to be a purple creature wrapped in a tornado-like wind that can knock players back and deal some damage. Interestingly, they jump rather than float around like their fiery Blaze counterparts. These will spawn in thebrand-new Trial Chambersthat will be introduced in the same update. These Trial Chambers will spawn in a wave of mobs and reward players with loot once all have been defeated. While the potential of these chambers hasn’t been fully revealed, it’s confirmed that they will have a cooldown.
There are 3 new confirmed blocks, including the Crafter, Copper Bulb, and Trial Spawner. The Crafter appears particularly useful as it automates crafting, using redstone to build items from its own database of recipes automatically. This has huge potential for players to streamline their crafting and will likely be one of the most popular additions in the coming update.

Remember, Version 1.21 won’t be released until mid-2024, so there’s plenty of time for the developers to add new and exciting features. Someplayers expect new biomes, as there has been a particular focus on these from previous updates, but this has yet to be officially confirmed by Mojang. There is a lot of speculation from players about what will be added, but, in the end, nothing is confirmed until official Mojang sources announce it.
Previous Mob Vote Winners
The very first Mob Vote was held in 2017, spreading excitement throughout the community. It was a fantastic way to get players to engage with the community and make decisions about how they wanted the game to evolve. The Mob Vote hasbecome a yearly occurrence, with the previous winners being:
However, each vote always leaves a few fans disappointedas their favorite gets left out. Luckily, there are several talented modders out there who create mod-packs with an abundance of mobs and features for players to add to their game. Some also question why the Minecraft Developers can’t just add all 3 mobs to the game. However, this would ultimately take away the ability for players to choose. The vote allows fans to engage and make an impact on the game.

Ultimately, the votes are always received with overwhelming positivity and excitement. Now, all that’s left to do is wait for this adorable new addition to the game in the Version 1.21 update!
