Emma Stone recently addressed the persistent rumors that she is reprising her role as Gwen Stacy for Jon Watts’Spider-Man: No Way Home. There’s been growing speculation that several characters from the Sony Spidey films will appear in the upcoming sequel.

Stone last played Stacy in 2014’sThe Amazing Spider-Man 2. The fifth theatricalSpider-Manfilm saw Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker attempt to take downJamie Foxx’s Max Dillon/Electro. Near the end of the movie, Stacy fell to her death after being kidnapped by the Green Goblin. The blockbuster earned mixed reviews from critics and grossed a franchise-low $708 million worldwide. In 2015, Sony and Marvel announced that a new iteration of the web-slinger would be featured in the MCU.

While specific plot details forSpider-Man: No Way Homehave yet to be released, the multiverse will reportedly have an important part in the film. The blockbuster is also rumored to havea live-action Spider-Verse element, which brings to question if past Spidey actors will make a cameo appearance in the film. FormerSpider-Manstars like Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, and Stone have been linked to the project, but nothing regarding these casting rumors has been confirmed by Marvel Studios or Sony. During an interview withMTV News, Stone asserted that she isn’t involved with the film. “I have heard those rumors. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything, but I’m not [involved],” she said before adding, “I don’t know what you’re supposed to respond as an alumnus (laughs).”

Stone’s denial comes afterGarfield downplayed the rumorsthat he would appear in the blockbuster. While the actor admitted that he’s read several fan theories, he insisted that he wasn’t approached to be in the film. Meanwhile, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are reprising their respective roles from previousSpider-Maniterations. Molina notably played Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus in 2004’sSpider-Man 2.

Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei are returning for the highly anticipated sequel.No Way Homewas directed by Jon Watts and will take place following the latest sequel,Spider-Man: Far From Home. Holland has asserted that the film will deliver everything audiences might expect from a superhero blockbuster. The highly-anticipated film wrapped production earlier this year and ispart of Phase Four of the MCU.

Stone can be currently seen alongside Emma Thompsonin Dinsey’sCruella. The live-action prequel to101 Dalmatiansoffers a re-imaged origin story for the iconic Dalmatian hoarding thief and follows Estella, a young grifter who is determined to find success in the fashion world.

Spider-Man: No Way Homeis scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025.
