Earlier this year Electronic Arts announced it was bringing back theNCAA Footballgame franchise under a new name ofEA Sports College Football. Now it looks as ifEA Sports College Footballwill be comingto the current generation of consoles and the current generation of mobile devices.
It’s been eight years sinceEA Sports’lastNCAA Footballgame was released and for a while, it seemed as if the franchise was officially dead. However, in February Electronic Arts officially announced it was working on a new game, though offered up the caveat that it was very early in development. Now it appears that there are at least two versions being worked on by the company.

A recently surfaced job listing shows that Electronic Arts is looking for a Technical Lead for a mobile college football video game. The listing points out that this new hire will be working under the Development Director as they work with several cross-discipline team members. It also points out that Electronics Arts has several multi-platform games out there currently includingMadden NFLandFIFA Soccer. It should be pointed out that while the listing says the person hired will bring a rewarding mobile experience. That could mean a game, or it could mean a companion app for theconsole version ofEA Sports College Football.
Since Electronic Arts announced that the new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights made itpossible for a newNCAA Footballgame to be produced, there have been quite a few questions on just what the title might entail. However, it seems as if the idea that there will also be a mobile game is a new twist.
Of course, making a mobile version ofEA Sports College Footballwould hardly be all that surprising these days. Electronic Arts have ported several of its other titles to Android and iOS over the years. That certainly includesMadden NFL, which could serve as a model should the mobile job listing indeed be hinting that a straight port of the upcoming console game is on the way as well. EA isn’t the only company putting their sports games on mobile platforms these days. There’s also a mobile version of theNBA 2Kseries available which offers a slightly paired down version of the console version of those games.
For now, Electronic Arts has not confirmed a mobile port of its upcoming college football game. That’s somewhat par for the course since the game was still announced, as it seems as if the company is making sure itsEA Sports College Footballis able to adjustto the changing NIL landscape.
