The Seasonal Artifact inDestiny 2’s Season of the Witch brings oout a new rotation of anti-Champion weapon perks, along with other unique and powerful perks that temporarily mix up the gameplay. There’s a lot of room to expand upon some of theSeasonal Artifact perks from Season of the Witch, and hopefully, these perks will be available long enough to see their potential fully realized. Having more buildcrafting tools available could be a great opportunity to give the current meta builds inDestiny 2some well-deserved competition.

Elemental Orb perks make up the majority of the Seasonal Artifact perks in Season 22, and they are proving to be game-changing, given that a wide majority of players are incorporating them into their existing builds. With a little tuning, Elemental Orbs could very well be the new meta inDestiny 2, but not if they never return after the current in-game Season ends.

How Elemental Orb Builds Compare to Other Builds in Destiny 2

Ultimately, Elemental Orbs encourage cooperation like few other builds inDestiny 2have successfully managed to so far, due to the fact that players can utilize Elemental Orbs regardless of having the perks equipped. With minimal or no investment, players can throw Elemental Orbs created by teammates to deal a substantial amount of damage and apply debuffs unique to the Void, Solar, Arc, and Strand Subclasses. Additionally, Elemental orbs can provide improved ability cooldowns, boosts to Elemental weapon damage, and increased ammo drop rates when used by players who equip the related perks.

As powerful as they already are, there’s still plenty of room to develop Elemental Orb perks into builds that are worthy of using in endgame content likeDestiny 2’s Raidsand Dungeons. A few examples of how Elemental Orbs can be improved upon are to allow them to provide Super energy cooldowns, damage reductions, and the ability to heal players. Additionally, adding Stasis Elemental damage and debuffs to Elemental Orbs could introduce a variety of untapped potential.

Destiny 2’s Armor Charge Builds Need More Competition

Compared topast Seasons and expansions forDestiny 2,the selection of viable armor mods has become relatively limited ever since the Lightfall expansion was released. With the overall difficulty of the game increasing with the latest content and some of the older armor mods being removed, this has shifted a large portion of the community to rely on only a small selection of buildcrafting tools. Specifically, the Armor Charge mods have become the new meta inDestiny 2.

For reference, Armor Charge builds are doing nearly everything thatElemental Orb buildsare capable of and more, with the added benefits of being activated passively and providing defensive buffs. At the same time, where Elemental Orb builds are superior to Armor Charge builds is that they provide exclusive ranged attacks and can be potentially utilized by players who don’t invest in the build. While it would be nice to see Elemental Orb perks take on more depth, they are already a strong contender for the current meta, if only they would be permanently available.

Given that players can equip Seasonal Artifact perks in addition to their existing builds, any newbuildcrafting tools inDestiny 2potentially have some strong competition to face, depending on how they can be equipped. If any Seasonal Artifact perks were to become available as permanent mods, there might need to be some rebalancing before they can be considered worthwhile builds, which is generally where Elemental Orb builds could stand to be improved.

While it’s not mandatory for every new buildcrafting tool inDestiny 2to be the new meta, it would be a missed opportunity not to expand upon where Elemental Orb builds generally fall short of other builds. It may be a difficult task to strike the right balance when making Seasonal Artifact perks permanently available, though it could be the perfect chance to provide worthwhile alternatives to the current meta.
