Destiny 2players have pointed out how Bungie missed the opportunity to place its new fishing activity at the Farm in the EDZ instead of different planetary locations.Fishing inDestiny 2was introduced with the ongoing Season of the Deep and has quickly become a fan-favorite activity.
Almost a week beforeDestiny 2Season of the Deepkicked off, a leak had claimed that fishing will be a part of the game. It was the perfect time for Bungie to add it to the game as Season 21 has an underwater exploration theme based on Titan. It isn’t just limited to Titan as fishing ponds spawn randomly near bodies of water on other planets as well, which the players have to scour for. However, the community feels that Bungie could’ve put the activity on the Farm to make life easier for players.

In a post on theDestinysubreddit, user BusBusy195 pointed out how the Farm would’ve been the ideal location for fishing as it already has a dock leading into water. In addition to this, they also mentioned how the Farm wouldn’t have any public events to disrupt the activity as well, which was an idea the community appreciated. As of now, fishing locations spawn at random on different planetary locations and players have manually to go to the director to find it. In addition to this, if a public event is started at the location where players are fishing, the activity is disrupted and the pond disappears. According to the players, putting the fishing activity inDestiny 2at the Farm would’ve killed two birds with one stone and made it even more engaging.
Several community members agreed with this suggestion but also provided different perspectives on the matter. For instance, user MNeck mentioned how Bungie would never do that as it would keep the fishing focus meter on perpetually, which in turn would increase the drop rates of Legendary and Exotic fish. Bungie’s stance on being able tofarm higher level material and gear inDestiny 2is very clear as it ensures that such exploits are fixed quickly.
While players might not get what they wished for, many believe that fishing could have a long-term future in the game. The reason being that the latest Exotic mission for theWicked Implement Scout Rifle inDestiny 2is tied to Deep Dive and fishing. Considering there is an Exotic quest rotator planned for the upcoming seasons, fishing could very well become a permanent addition toDestiny 2,and the community will also highly appreciate this as several players feel that fishing gives them a nice break from the tedious grind in the game.
Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
