As players get more comfortable with the new systems inDestiny 2: Lightfall, new discoveries are being made including a new movement technique called Strand Skating. In general, the new darkness subclass called Strand has seemingly been a big hit with the community, especially afterBungie lifted the time gated restrictions on fragments. The green element Strand gives players access to abilities to manipulate the Weave, psychic energy that links all beings and minds in the universe.
As fun as Strand can be to use to suspend and sever enemies, players have found that the new grapple ability, which replaces the grenade slot, is more powerful than some thought. Already, fans have usedStrand grappling to get around maps much fastereither by grabbing enemies, teammates, launched rockets, or catching a ride on super moves like the Titan’s Thundercrash. However, one user has found that Strand seemingly unlocks a new skating movement technique, moving much faster than playing normally would allow.

Posting over on the raidsecrets subReddit ofDestiny 2, a user named Dazzling-Fortune9986 posted an update to Strand Skating, a technique that lets players zoom across maps at high speeds. The method, outlined in a video by InSaNeGaMeR300, requires the Strand subclass to be unlocked as well as the new sword called Caretaker and a perk on it called Valiant Charge. Using a combination of heavy attack, Strand dive, and jump on any sort of decline will result in the player zooming at high speeds.
Dazzling-Fortune9986 has been working to make the inputs more consistent and has seemingly developed a double skate maneuver while messing around inDestiny 2. Using similar inputs and a slight slope, Dazzling-Fortune9986 is able to perform a ground skate that can combo into another skate if the player character does not leave the ground after the first swing. As it turns out, teammates can shoot the player to trigger Valiant Charge, making this technique slightly easier to pull off in a group.
It’s unknown how Bungie will react to this newly discovered technique, thoughDestiny 2players shouldn’t be too surprised if it ultimately gets nerfed. “Skating” techniques have been common throughout the game’s life, including a popular one using swords. Players have used theseSword Skating methods to get to parts of maps that Bungie never intended, skipping huge sections or encounters as well as opening chests without having to fight for them. Naturally, this has resulted in swords and various movement techniques being nerfed or removed entirely.
