Since its initial release in 2016,Dead by Daylighthas received over 25 sizable updates adding horror icons to the game. With each of these updates adding a minimum of six new perks,Dead by Daylightcontinues to frustrate fans due to its lack of a search function.
When preparing for aDead by Daylightgame, players will commonly switch their perks around during the waiting lobby prior to the start of a trial.Dead by DaylightPerksare currently ordered alphabetically, with both survivors and killers having over 100 different options to choose from, meaning they have to quickly scroll through pages of perks and recognize the image of the perk they’re looking for. Players cannot search for perks, and must identify perks by image alone unless they hover over one and trigger its description to pop up.

Withnew content continuing to be added toDead by Daylight, players are begging the game’s developers to implement a search feature that would allow them to enter key letters or terms in order to find their favorite perks. While many games contain this feature upon launch,Dead by Daylighthas gone six years without it while simultaneously adding several new perks to the game every few months. With over 200 perks currently in the game and no search feature, it has never been more difficult to quickly locate and switch to a particular perk in the moments before a round begins. User Luceus_W took to Reddit, making a plea in the form of a meme:
Reddit’s users suggested several other solutions to this problem, such as a feature that would allow players to bookmark their favorite perks and thus move them to the front page of their perk list. Some also argued thatDead by Daylight Mobileis currently better optimized than the main game when it comes to perks, allowing players to see the perk loadouts of their teammates when loading into the trial and thus bridging the gap between solo and team play.
ThoughDead by Daylightcontinues to deliver exciting collaborations, the perk roster of the game is growing at such a rapid rate that a search bar is entirely necessary. The next large content update for the game, which will contain a new killer and survivor, has been given a tentative release date of March 2023, though no plans to implement a search tool have been disclosed,
Dead by Daylightis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
