Daredevil: Born Againset photos to suggest the Disney Plus will feature a couple of time jumps that could rewrite the origin stories established in the original series for Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.

Daredevilwas released in 2015 and was one of the earliest examples of Marvel shows that recognized and were a part of the MCU. WhileDaredevilended in 2018, fans have been hoping for more of Cox’s Daredevil since he appeared inSpider-Man: No Way Home. When therebootDaredevil: Born Againwas announced, it was confirmed that Cox would return and that his presence inSpider-Man: No Way Homewas more than a fun cameo. Since then, Cox’s Daredevil has also appeared in the Disney Plus showShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Cox and D’Onofrio aren’t the only actors from the original series returning forDaredevil: Born Again.Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as The Punisher. While little is known about The Punisher’s role in the show, new on-set images reveal a little about what fans can expect from Kingpin and Daredevil’s stories. Specifically, pictures featuring what appears to be an actor for young Wilson Fisk have sparked speculation about howDaredevil: Born Againmay utilize flashbacks. WhileDaredevilhad several flashback scenes used to establish both Daredevil and Kingpin’s origin stories, the post fromJoseph Adamesreferences flashback episodes, suggesting that significant parts ofBorn Again’s eighteen-episode season could be dedicated to flashbacks. While it’s unclear if this means a change in Kingpin’s origin story or simply a deeper exploration of it, it certainly opens the door for tweaks in his established canon.

Kingpin might not be the only character getting flashbacks. Another photo of a newspaper seems to be dated totake place in Matt Murdock’s past, meaning that there could also be potential changes or updates to his story. Details about potential flashbacks for Daredevil are even more scarce, but with eighteen episodes, the show will have plenty of room to explore his backstory as much as it needs.

With the release about a year away, fans have plenty of time to speculate on whatDaredevil: Born Againwill cover. As new information is leaked and released, it may become clear how much of the show will focus on cementing or changing Kingpin and Daredevil’s backstories as they’re more deeplyintegrated into the MCU. WhetherDaredevil: Born Againfeatures whole episodes dedicated to flashbacks or decides to center on these characters' present-day problems, it’s safe to say that the show will satisfy fans' desires to have Daredevil and Kingpin be larger parts of the MCU.
