Spider-Man: No Way Homeopened a pandora’s box worth of memories from the first twoSpider-Mansagas, making many fans look back at those movies in a different light and that includes artists who are happy to give characters like the Green Goblin some pretty inspired makeovers.

The Green Goblin has always been one ofSpider-Man’sbiggest foes in Marvel Comics, however, the original cartoonish design never made the jump to film instead making way for Willem Dafoe’s modernized masterful portrayal of Norman Osborn. Naturally, James Franco succeeded his on-screen father by taking up his glider in divisiveSpider-Man 3,only for fellow Harry Osborn Dane DeHaan to later do the same in the much-malignedThe Amazing Spider-Man 2.

In this case, the latter is the one serving as inspiration for artist Skull101ify (@skull101ify) to give him a proper comic book look that is a far cry from his appearance inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2. The final render keeps of all DeHaan’s distinctive facial features, but swaps the decayed and mutated skin for the bright green complexion that’s been associated with the character ever since he made his debut in 1964, pointy goblin ears and all, as well as his signature purple clothing.

Prior to Dafoe’s confirmed return asthe Green Goblin inSpider-Man: No Way Home, DeHaan had been asked by reporters if he would have been interested in reprising his role, with the actor mostly dismissing the idea. Although he didn’t discard the possibility of playing more comic book characters in the future, DeHaan did feel he’d just rather do something new despite how fun playing Harry Osborn was back then.

DeHaan’s Green Goblin has obviously gone down as second best to Dafoe’s, especially now that the latter came backto becomeNo Way Home’sbest villainas if not a single day had gone by ever since he put on his metallic green suit. On the other hand, DeHaan’s character is part of what is widely considered one of the weakestSpider-Manmovies ever made, with a character design that seems directly tied to the aesthetics villains fromThe Amazing Spider-Manhad.

It’s clear feelings amongThe Amazing Spider-Manactors range widely, with leading manAndrew Garfield coming back inNo Way Homeout of his sheer love for the franchise, and even Jamie Foxx’s Electro doing the same to get the kind of redesign DeHaan could have perhaps benefited from. Don’t count on seeing this Green Goblin in any live-action multiverse though.
