Summary

CD Projekt Red started rolling out theCyberpunk 2077update 2.01 earlier today. The release should not come as a surprise to the game’s fandom, not least because the developer alreadyhinted at an October 5 launch for the 2.01 version ofCyberpunk 2077.

The dystopian RPG was treated to its biggest-ever update on September 21, when CDPR introduced a wide variety of changes as part of theCyberpunk 2077update 2.0. But as was to be expected from such a massive overhaul, the latest version of the game also introduced some new bugs. The list of the RPG’s recent issues grew even longer with the September 26 release of the Phantom Liberty expansion, which added an entirely new neighborhood and around 30 hours' worth of questing to the game.

Plenty of those problems have now been addressed with the newly released patch, including some key bugs affecting over half a dozen Phantom Liberty quests. The fullchangelog forCyberpunk 2077update 2.01also mentions performance improvements being part of the package, many of which are targeting Dogtown. That DLC area has so far performed noticeably worse across all platforms compared to the rest of Night City, likely because it doesn’t have the benefit of three years' worth of optimization efforts that CDPR previously poured into the base game.

The 2.01 patch also fixes a few older issues withCyberpunk 2077, including an annoying bug that would cause the Relic screen flickering effect to persist throughout the game if the player picked one particular dialogue option at the end of the Automatic Love quest. Several gigs—the game’s jargon for side quests—were also polished as part of the latest update, and should now be free of circumstantial bugs that could have prevented their completion in the past.

In terms of gameplay changes, the 2.01 patch adds the Arm cyberware to the weapon cycling sequence, allowing players to switch to melee options like Gorilla Arms without having to open the quick selection menu. Furthermore, the Trauma Drama mini-game introduced in the update 2.0 is now significantly harder to play, as CDPR patched an exploit that allowed cheesing the arcade challenge by repeatedly shooting enemies dropping from the helicopter that would pop up on each run.

Theanti-Russian messages in the Ukrainian version ofCyberpunk 2077have also been removed as part of the new patch, with the updated localization now being in line with the original game, which is free of such content. Finally, CDPR added REDmod support to Phantom Liberty, allowing modders to start working on expanding the expansion, or updating any custom content that the DLC might have broken.
