In a post on Reddit, user AspiringConceptArt showed what it would look like if Hanzo had a samurai skin.Hanzo is a hero from a complicated familywho comes from Japan and is a skilled archer and assassin. In the skin concept, he wears a stylized samurai armor, with the traditional leg and foot guards. Samurai used to wear armor around the body, but in this concept, Hanzo keeps his chest bare, a trademark feature of his look, with only one shoulder protected. The hero’s quiver of arrows is on his back, and he wears an imposing samurai helmet to match the beautiful design and color scheme.
With 621 upvotes and 22 comments, the skin concept posted by AspiringConceptArt pleased users of theOverwatch 2subreddit, who said they would like to see the skin officially created. One user, in particular, commented that the idea was reminiscent of Hachiman, a syncretic deity of bow and war that is part of the Japanese religion. This is not the first time that the archer in Blizzard’s shooter has been given an impressive look created by fans. The skin concept created by AspiringConceptArt gives Hanzo a look that is not only quite cool but very well contextualized. Hanzo is one of three playable heroes inOverwatch 2who hails from Japan, another being his younger brother and the lethal ninja Genji. The game’s third Japanese hero is Kiriko, one of the new characters introduced toOverwatch 2. It’s worth noting that not only does the young girl come from the same country, but Kiriko, Hanzo, and Genjihave a connection inOverwatch 2’s lore. With characters whose abilities and histories are so diverse,Overwatch 2players always have something to draw inspiration from and create interesting fan art.
