One of the costs of creating a new AAACall of Dutyevery year is that technical issues seem to inevitably crop up. Full games have an unbending release schedule and updates that go out at a pace that’s difficult to fully test. As such, problems like a newly discovered memory-related crash inCall of Duty: Warzonearen’t uncommon, though that doesn’t make them any less frustrating for players. Raven Software confirmed Sunday morning that it was aware of the issue and that it was being looked into.
The problems started on May 27 when Raven Software issued an update forCall of Duty: Warzone. The update made some small but impactful changes, including dramatic alterations forscopes introduced withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. What it also included, apparently, was a bug that could crashCall of Duty: Warzonewhen playing the game on Xbox One. All thatWarzoneplayers would see was the message “Memory Error” before the game would close, returning to the Xbox One dashboard.

Raven Software’s update on the issue is unfortunately thin on information. All that the developer said in its statement on Twitter is that there is a “Memory Error” crash affecting Xbox One players and that it typically occurs while playing or after a match. The issue has been flagged inRaven Software’s Trello, which tracks ongoing issues withWarzone, where it’s currently listed as being investigated and still requiring player feedback.
The Memory Error issue was originally noted by Raven Software this past Thursday. No updates on the issue have been posted since, soCall of Duty: Warzoneplayersshould expect to continue dealing with the issue for the foreseeable future. There’s no apparent trick or method to preventing it from happening. It just seems to be an existing memory issue that will happen randomly until Raven is able to fix the problem.
One notable detail that deserves to be brought up can be found in the Twitter replies to Raven’s message about the ongoing issue. Namely, that many of the replies claim that they’re also getting the Memory Error message after theirWarzonegame crashes, but that they’re not on Xbox One. There are messages from players on Xbox Series X and PlayStation, too.
Clearly, Raven Software has its work cut out for itself on this issue.Memory leaksare a common, but not always simple issue in video games. AndCall of Duty: Warzoneis a very big and complex game, at that. Hopefully, Raven will have more information to share on the error soon.
