Season 3 ofCall of Duty: Warzonehas arrived, and with it comes a new battle royale map, a fresh battle pass, plenty of balancing changes, and much more.Fans seem to be happy with Season 3 ofCall of Duty: Warzoneso far, but the developer is already looking to what comes next, as Raven Software recently revealed that it is working on “next-gen” versions of the popular first-person-shooter for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Call of Duty: Warzonereceived an update for next-gen consoleslast year, but for the most part the change was more of a half-measure. According to the creative director at Raven Software, Amos Hodge, an enhanced version that will take full advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S technologies is on the way.

Hodge says that a “dedicated technology team” is working on bringingCall of Duty: Warzoneto this now current generation, although no exact timetable was given. Some of the things that the enhanced version of the game will do is support 120Hz, faster load times, and utilize the SSD tech. It is likely that the PS5 version would also take advantage of theDualSense Haptic Feedback controller abilities, as well.
One of the other major things that Raven has mentioned is finally bringing anFOV slider to consoles forCall of Duty: Warzone, something that fans have been clamoring for for a very long time. This would allow players to pull back the camera and see a bit more on screen, which is especially important in the cross-platform competitive setting thatWarzoneprovides. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game should be able to handle this setting.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis here to stay. Activision and Raven have made it clear that the battle royale will be around for years to come, as this new season is just the latest example of game-altering content and fresh experiences that players can look forward to. Moving forward, the hope is that theWarzoneintegration with otherCall of Dutygames will be more seamless, as there were some bumps and bruises withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. But the starting point for all of that is the need to bring the game truly into this now current (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) generation. There are a lot of features that players have been asking for or they will enjoy, and the technology is now there for the utilizing.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Proper Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions are in development.
