While mostCall of Dutyfans may be paying attention to the upcomingCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warright now,Call of Duty: Warzoneis still massively popular, and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. Activision plans to keep supportingCall of Duty: Warzonefor the long haul, with plans to fully integrate the game withBlack Ops Cold War. And while theCall of Duty: Warzonecore experience will stay mostly the same, there are still some changes coming, possibly even a new island for the battle royale map.
As pointed out by CharlieIntel, in theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarSeason 1 roadmap, fans can see a listing for a “classifiedWarzoneexperience.” There’s not much else to go on except for what appears to be an image of a map with Russian text on it that makes reference to something called “Rebirth Island.” CharlieIntel believes that this is a reference to Alcatraz, the famous prison island that has been featured in multipleCall of Dutygames in the past.

Alcatraz has been the subject ofCall of DutyZombies maps, but it has also appeared in otherCall of Dutybattle royale games.Call of Duty Mobilehas added Alcatraz to its battle royale map, andAlcatraz was also a part ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackoutgame mode. Considering this, there’s a good chance that this tease is an indication that Alcatraz is coming to theCall of Duty: Warzonebattle royale map.
Alternatively, it could be a sign that Alcatraz will be added as a completely separate, second map for theCall of Duty: Warzonebattle royale experience. AnewCall of Duty: Warzonemaphas been rumored for quite some time, and while many fans assumed it would be comprised ofBlack Ops Cold War’s bigger maps, maybe it will be a smaller-scale experience.
