Since community pressure has increased,Call of Duty: Warzonehas enacted a ban on tens of thousands of accounts. These alleged cheaters have had their accounts banned in one of the largest waves seen to date.Call of Duty: Warzone’scommunity of players, streamers, and content creators have been putting additional pressure on Activision to act, and many hope that this ban wave is not the end of that action.
The debate in theCall of Duty: Warzonecommunityhas been going on for months as hackers rise in numbers across all platforms. Many content creators have threatened to abandon the game, while competitive streamers are enraged by the interruption of hackers. Many members of the game’s community believe thatCall of Duty: Warzoneis not in a good state, and they are turning towards Activision for solutions to the hacker problem.

According to Vice, more than 60,000 accounts have been banned for cheating. This news comes only days afterCall of Duty: Warzonestreamer and content creator Vikkstarofficially quit the game. Many content creators have stated that hackers will be the end ofWarzone,with Drift0r and many others threatening to abandon the game. As tensions rise among the community, fans continuously called for action from the development team to do something about the cheaters inCall of Duty: Warzone.
This will be the third of large ban waves enacted by Activision againstCall of Duty: Warzonecheaters. Back in April, the publishing company banned over 70,000Warzoneaccounts in the first official ban wave. Meanwhile, another ban in September targetted the popularEngineOwning cheat app, resulting in 20,000 accounts.
Vice reported that the new ban is once again targeting EngineOwning customers and that anyone using the program has been wiped from the game. According toEngineOwning’s website, the cheat developers claim to be updating the cheat dueto this increase in player bans inCall of Duty: Warzone.
It is unknown if bans will be enough to stop the rise of cheaters. In the past, manyCall of Duty: Warzonecheaters expressed a disinterest in bansstating that they do have multiple accounts. While bans are surely the first step towards a solution, the game’s community is hoping for more decisive action towards ending the hacker epidemic in theCall of Duty: Warzoneenvironment.
