Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredleaked for the first time over a year ago, and now it’s finally out.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredis now available for PlayStation 4 owners, remastering the critically-acclaimed campaign with new visuals, but those on PC and Xbox One will be missing out for about a month.
It’s been confirmed thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredis a timed-PS4 exclusive.Call of Dutyfans on PC and Xbox One can pre-order the game if they want to get theUnderwater Demo Team Classic Ghost bundleforModern WarfareandWarzone, but they won’t be able to actually playModern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastereduntil it launches for those platforms on April 30.

The decision to releaseCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredas a timed-PS4 exclusive is likely to upset some fans of the franchise. As some may recall, there was quite the uproar when theModern WarfareSpec Ops Survival modewas confirmed to be a timed-PS4 exclusive, and it’s easy to see how this decision will generate the same kind of backlash. On the bright side, PC and Xbox One players only have to wait a month forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, whereas Spec Ops Survival is exclusive to PS4 for an entire year.
In the meantime, those that do purchaseCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredwill be able to look forward to 4k visuals and HDR support on consoles. The PC version seems to be the mostly fully-featured, as it will have an uncapped framerate and ultrawide monitor support.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredalso has some new trophies and achievementsfor players to unlock, but beyond that and the visual improvements, it should be a pretty familiar experience to those that played the original game.
Unfortunately, theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2remaster does not include the classicMW2multiplayer mapsor the Spec Ops co-op mode. However, it’s been suggested thatmore classicModern Warfare 2mapswill be remade forModern Warfare, so at least some of them should be coming back in the future.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredis out now for PS4, with a PC and Xbox One version launching on April 30.
