Gamers noticed the removal ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Gun Game playlistimmediately after the latest update, and took to online forums to voice their complaints. In one particular Reddit thread, gamers were not shy to give their thoughts on Infinity Ward’s tactics. Many accused the company of removing the mode to generate FOMO in players to drive them back to the game when it’s eventually re-added to matchmaking. Infinity Ward is yet to provide an official reasoning for the mode’s removal, but hopefully, the company can provide some clarity for the community in the coming days.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s playlists work in a rotation, with new modes and maps being cycled at regular intervals. Because of this, it’s likely that Gun Game will return in a future playlist update. However, players are still frustrated to have the mode snatched away after waiting months for its release. Players can still play the mode in private matches, however there’s simply no way to search for it in matchmaking anymore. For gamers that don’t have huge groups of friends, the new update is a big step backward.
With new content coming toCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, hopefully Infinity Ward is able to fill the void left by Gun Game in the meantime. The developer has been focused recently on fixing some of the issues added in Season 2, with Infinity Ward even having toban an overpowered new weapon from Ranked Play inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Once these smaller fixes are out of the way, the developer will be able to focus on bringing brand-new content to the game, with the absent Gunfight mode still in development for release in Season 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
