Summary
Bungie has revealed a two-step approach to fix the weapon crafting bug currently active inDestiny 2. This is seemingly one of themost game-breaking bugsDestiny 2has ever had, which allows players to turn weapons into different archetypes altogether.
Destiny 2has had a long history of game-breaking bugs since it launched. From being able to run12-player raids inDestiny 2to Telesto being bugged on countless occasions, players have seen some weird glitches over the years. However, this weapon crafting bug is possibly the biggest one inDestiny 2history, considering it allows players to turn their Auto-Rifles into Grenade Launchers, or even Shotguns. However, despite this bug disrupting every single activity in the game, Bungie decided to not shut the game down for maintenance. Now, after more than 24 hours of the bug being active in the game, the developer has finally detailed a two-step approach to fix it.

This was revealed by the official Bungie Help account on Twitter, where the team acknowledged the bug and mentioned that the first step will prevent all players from equipping any crafted weapons inDestiny 2, which will come as a server-side update. The second fix will be released later that will reset the “illegal” perks of all these crafted weapons back to default, however, Bungie hasn’t given a specific timeline for the implementation of this step yet.
Interestingly, this bug was discovered moments afterTrials of Osiris went live inDestiny 2for the weekend. Considering Trials is the game’s most competitive PvP activity, many players believed that Bungie would disable it until the bug was fixed. Instead, Bungie mentioned that it had no plans to do so and also clarified that players using this bug in Trials won’t be banned as they aren’t using any external means to gain an advantage in the game.
While several players are having fun melting bosses within seconds with an Auto-Rifle that shoots 20 grenades at a time, the community stands divided with regard to this bug. Bungie’s usual approach is to shut down any such game-breaking bug almost immediately as it disrupts the gameplay experience, but this one being active for more than 24 hours has surprised many players. Recently, Bungie allowed abug to stay active inDestiny 2’s Iron Bannermode, where players were able to drive their Sparrows on the Multiplex map, however, the delay in addressing a bug of this magnitude has left many players surprised.
Destiny 2is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
