It’s been a long and winding road forDestiny 2,with the shooter facing its fair share of ups and downs since it launched. Luckily, the launch of theBeyond Light expansionseems to be going relatively smoothly, and with a new update on Bungie’s blog, it appears that fans have quite a bit to look forward to in the coming months. One of the most exciting, however, is the armor transmog system.
On the Bungie blog today, the developer revealed thattransmog will be coming toDestiny 2with Season 14, offering players complete control over how their Guardian’s look. The post contains two screenshots of the system, which looks about as one familiar with transmog in other games would expect. The five armor slots are all present, allowing players to swap out both shaders and the physical appearance of their gear.

Regular players should have a decent number of options when the system launches, assuming Bungie’s plan is still to allow players' existing collections to migrate over to the new system, which seems likely. There are still some other questions as to how the system will work, too, though players will just have to wait to find out more.
Players have been requesting a transmog system since the originalDestinylaunched, so it’s been a long time coming for the new feature. Bungie originally announced that the system was coming to the game back in July, with few updates since then. Of course, there’s still a decent wait before the system is introduced. Currently,Destiny 2is on Season 12, which kicked off just under a month ago. That leaves the remainder of this season and the entirety of next season before players can put their hands on the transmog system.
Considering how longDestiny 2players have waited, it isn’t an outrageous amount of additional time, especially with Bungie focusing on big-picture updates, like refining loot acquisition and balancing. All told, 2021 looks like a big year for the game, as it will also include crossplay and the return of the Vault of Glass raid, the first raid ever featured inDestiny.There’s always the looming potential that the features could be delayed, but Bungie seems confident with its window.
In the meantime, all fans can do is wait. There’s been a solid churn of content these past few weeks with more to come. TheDeep Stone Crypt raidhas provided solid challenges for players to undertake, with the community putting its own twists on the endeavor for some extra spice.
