Stardew Valleyhas long been a favorite among players who enjoy a life sim that goes above and beyond the mundane, offering the experience of creating an entire life and going on adventures. One of the game’s features is the ability to play online with friends. What could possibly be better than this?Mods that improve the co-op experience.
There are so many mods forStardew Valleythat players may not know where to start to achieve their desired results. With the right mods, they can improve their co-op gaming experience, having even more fun with their friends. Here’s a look at the best mods designed just for that.

Updated on June 19, 2025, by Usama Ali:While Stardew Valley is primarily a single-player game, it offers a delightful co-op mode where players can share the farming experience with friends and family. Up to eight players can join a multiplayer farm, each with their own inventory, skills, and relationships with the villagers. Even though it’s pretty fun on its own, the community has designed a bunch of mods that take the co-op experience to the next level. These mods improve existing co-op mechanics and even introduce new collaborative elements, breathing fresh life into the game. We’ve updated this list with a bunch of more Stardew Valley mods that are a must-have in co-op mode.
17Skull Cavern Elevator
Endorsements - 80,945
The Skull Cavern is a favorite for many single players and for many good reasons. The very best loot is located deep down in the caverns, and to get there, players should make a lot of preparations.
From preparing speed potions to amassing a large number of staircases, and even waiting for the rightluckto come along, All of that is evenharder to do in co-op, as frequently resetting the day becomes more problematic. But with this mod, all these problems become trivial, and the journey itself becomes much more relaxing and enjoyable.

16Automatic Gates
Endorsements - 30,468
While a nice addition to a solo game, the effects of the mod become that much more impactful in co-op play. As the cooperative farm grows larger, with more buildings and animals, there are more andmore fences and gates.
Interestingly enough, the automaticclosingof gates becomes almost more impactful than their opening. After all, no one likes it when their chickens run away and scatter all over the map because their friend was too busy running to their favorite fishing spot in the morning and forgot to close the gates. Again.

15Fishing Trawler - New Horizons
Endorsements - 858
The Fishing Trawler - New Horizons mod introduces a thrilling newendgame activity toStardew Valley: deep-sea fishing expeditions aboard a custom-built trawler. After meeting certain requirements, Murphy gives players the opportunity to become a deckhand on his fishing trawler, the “Dawnshard.” Players can take weekly fishing trips on the trawler and grab large amounts of fish, provided the boat doesn’t sink.
The best part is that the Fishing Trawler mod is multiplayer-compatible. To join a friend’s trip, simply be present at the dock alongside Murphy before the ship departs. While the thrill of the open sea is shared, rewards are calculated individually. This means that each deckhand’s fishing level determines the fish they catch. However, the trawler will proudly fly the flag of the player who initiated the expedition.

14Simple Crop Label
Endorsements - 20,898
On a commune farm, everyone wants to plant a littlesomething. What exactly did they plant? Not even they remember. That could be a massive headache for over-planners and those who deeply care about their garden and its aesthetics.
This mod allows players to know exactly what the planted seeds are, allowing players to plan and look after them accordingly. Communal farms can become very chaotic very quickly, and this does help a little to remedy all that. However, it is still nice to plan these things ahead, if possible.

13Tractor Mod
Endorsements - 87,041
Just because there are more farmhands doesn’t mean that everyone on the farm is overly enthusiastic about farming itself. Some players prefer spending days on end in the mines and caverns, while others enjoy spending their time wooing their next love interest. There is nothing wrong with that, but someone has to take care of all these pumpkins!
The tractor is a great mod for anyone who enjoys planting and growing massive quantities. A large production can be fun and rewarding, and with this mod, a group of players can even save a little bit on making tools for everyone.

12Cabin Owner Displayed
Endorsements - 354
When playing in a multiplayer world, each player gets their own cabin. As such, managing multiple player cabins can quickly become chaotic. With several farmers building their own cozy homes, it can be difficult to remember which cabin belongs to which friend. This is where the Cabin Owner Displayed mod comes in handy.
The Cabin Owner Displayed mod solves this problem by clearly displaying the name of the cabin’s owner upon entering. This simple yet effective detail completely changes the multiplayer experience by minimizing confusion and respecting personal space. With this mod, players can maintain a more organized and respectful living environment within the shared farm.

11Warp To Friends
Endorsements: 953
The mechanic of warping to friends is fairly common in other survival games, such asMinecraftandTerraria. The game’s map is fairly large, and it is quite easy to beveryfar from each other. And sometimes, especially in the Mines or the Skull Caverns, a friend might find themselves in dire need of help and support.
With this mod, players can effortlessly and instantly join their friends, and continue their journey together. Given that the mod only allows teleportation to friends, it isn’t even too game-breaking, as players will still need to build totems to get back home.

10Stardew Valley Expanded
Endorsements: 97,896
At this point, SVE is one of the most downloaded mods on the platform, and it isn’t at all difficult to see why. The mod addsso muchcontent, that it truly feels like an actual Expansion. From new NPCs to recipes, machines, locations, quests and so much more.
It is a great option to install for a multiplayer game, as it adds so many more activities that players can engage in together. Some players have reported having trouble with the new events, but there are multiple fixes and workarounds. As always, players are encouraged to carefully read the description page of every mod they install.

9Automate
Endorsements: 67,010
Automate is truly a godsend of a mod, and many players can no longer imagine playing without it. Given just how many more resources players can process in a multiplayer game, automating the process of refining and machining just makes so much sense.
From pickling and brewing, to trap fishing and smelting, so many rather repetitive tasks can be fully automated, giving players more time to do the activities that they enjoy. Multiplayer also really highlights the efficiency of the process, eventuallyshoweringplayers with hundreds of premium produce and refined materials. Finding expensive gifts willneveragain be a problem.

8CJB Cheats Menu
Endorsements - 179,443
The CJB Cheats Menu is a popular mod forStardew Valleythat provides players with a wide range of in-game cheats. It adds a menu that can be opened with a configurable key (the default is set to ‘P’). Here, players can find a large selection of cheats, including manipulating time and weather, adjusting money and stamina, instantly increasing friendship levels, and many more. Most cheats in the CJB Cheats Menu affect all players in a multiplayer game, but some only affect the player using the mod.
Cheats like world alterations (date changes, Community Center completion), instant buildings, environmental controls, shared money adjustments, and sickle harvesting, affect all players. Location-based cheats, such as one-hit kills and breaks, impact all players in the same area. Most other cheats, including stamina, speed, and individual item spawning, are player-specific.
