Shonen anime are all about incredible stories centered around intense fights and high-octane action. Of course, one of the things that makes these fights so exciting is the fact that the characters taking part in them can power up tremendously using unique transformations.
Throughout the history of shonen anime, fans have seen countless of these powerful transformations, however, only a handful of them have managed to reverberate through history and stand out on top as the very best.
8Demon Form – Asta
Although quite a new transformation when compared to the many others that have featured across many shonen anime, Asta’s demon form is certainly an incredible power-up. After refusing demonic possession, Asta gains control over his powers and gains a devilish appearance with horns and wings emerging.
He also sees his right arm get coated in a black substance that allows him to nullify any magic used against him. This is an incredible power-up that fans have seen being utilized in the fight against Lastros and many times after that as well.
7One For All 100% – Deku
Deku is certainly one of the very best next-generation characters and fans have fully taken to this incredible protagonist who was born without a Quirk. After being given the Quirk of the strongest, Deku then proceeds to train himself to be worthy of wielding this power.
When the time comes to protect those in need, Deku can push himself beyond all limits. He has activated One For All at 100% quite a few times in the story already and this transformation has certainly been a joy for the fans to watch. Using this incredible power that he inherited from his beloved mentor, Deku swings at the villains to maintain peace, all the while rising to the very top.
6Fullbring – Ichigo
Ichigo has quite a lot of transformations up his sleeve.Fans can often be seen debating as to what they think is the best transformation and, all opinions can be considered to be valid.
While he has transformations such as Shinigami, other bankai forms, and Vasto Lorde, his Fullbring stands out quite a lot since it gives him a remarkable understanding and control over souls. This form is iconic in many ways and certainly one of his very best transformations, if not the best.
5Adult Gon – Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Huntermight not feature as many transformations as the other shonen anime, however, the transformations in this series are all incredibly well-written and, of course, iconic enough to be remembered for years. One of the most incredible transformations that fans have seen in this amazing anime is that of Adult Gon.
After learning about Kite’s true fate,Gon sacrifices his immense potentialand gains the body of an adult, overflowing with nen. He uses this incredible power to crush Neferpitou in a battle that is considered to be one of the most gruesome ones in the entire series.
4Kurama Chakra Mode – Naruto
Naruto Uzumaki is a beloved character in all of animeand his trusty pal, Kurama, has always been at his side, although as an enemy at first. When Naruto fully forms a bond with this beast, he’s able to tap into a unique transformation called Kurama Chakra mode.
This chakra mode makes him incredibly powerful and allows him to fight the strongest in the story, such as Obito and Madara. He can take this one step further after gaining powers from the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo. This unique form is then known as Six Paths Sage Mode.
3Gear Second – Luffy
Luffy is, by far, one of the most iconic characters in all of fiction and it is no surprise that he has a transformation that is unique enough to be remembered for decades.
Gear Second is the very first transformation that Luffy takes inOne Pieceand he does so in the famous Water Seven Saga. Making full use of his rubber body, Luffy pumps blood faster and gains immense speed as well as power. This form gives him a red tint and his sweat is seen turning into vapor, which gives him a steam-like effect.
2Super Saiyan – Goku
By all means,Super Saiyan is one of the most iconic transformations in all of anime.This transformation is incredible and is tapped into by Goku after the death of Krillin. Once his beloved friend dies in the Namek Saga, Goku is enraged and this leads to him transforming into what is known as a Super Saiyan.

Luffy is a character who values his freedom the most and Gear 5 allows him to be the freest that he possibly can. This transformation is not powerful in obvious ways. Instead, it allows Luffy to make use of his incredible creativity and simply create scenes as if they were from a comic strip. It is an extremely funny transformation that makes every single fan laugh. This transformation can simply be considered the pinnacle of Luffy’s character.
