Summary
Dark and Darkeroffers a captivating twist on thedungeon crawlergenre. This free-to-play game stands out by allowing players to team up with friends or strangers to tackle challenging dungeons. The gameplay is straightforward, yet the right group of players can transform it into an engaging and enjoyable experience.
In terms of weaponry,Dark and Darkertakes a different approach compared to otherMMORPGs. While many games in the genre boast hundreds of weapon variations, this game features a more streamlined selection, with roughly eight to ten options for each weapon type, including maces. Despite the limited choices, some maces in the game are notably superior to others.

A Weapon And A Light Source
Stats:
The humble Torch is a surprisingly useful blunt weapon that is classified as a mace inDark and Darker. Players can use a torch in several ways. It can be wielded as a weapon by any class, but only does a flat 10 damage to enemies in thisaction RPG.
Holding a torch creates a sphere of light around the player, making it extremely useful for players who do not have access to some form of magical light source. It can also be thrown. Once thrown, the torch continues to burn, illuminating the area around it. This can be very useful for uncovering dark areas of a dungeon without entering them.

Basic Blunt Weapon
The club is about as basic as a blunt mace weapon gets inDark and Darker. However, it is easily acquired and is useful for new players. It is a medium-speed weapon, with all attack combos apart from one taking less than a second to complete.
The club has a 20% slowdown on hit that lasts for a second and applies a player movement speed debuff of 20, which is pretty average for one-handed weapons inDark and Darker. Unsurprisingly, there is no artifact version of the basic club in thisrole-playing game.

A Weapon And Instrument Locked To Bards
The lute is aBard class-only weapon inDark and Darker, that doubles up as an instrument. This makes it very useful for a Bard, as they will not need to switch between a weapon and their instrument in combat. It also has a pretty low player movement debuff, that is driven by the tier of the lute.
Damage-wise, a higher tier loot isn’t too shabby, as a Bard isn’t considered a damage-dealing class anyway. The Lute is quite a handy weapon, as all combo attacks complete in less than a second. But it does only have a 17% slowdown on hit.

A Simple Stick Available To Many Classes
Since there is no staff weapon category inDark and Darker, the quarterstaff is classified as a mace. This makes sense, considering that it only does blunt damage. The best thing about the Quarterstaff is that it can be used by so many classes. It also does fairly good damage.
However, this is a slow weapon in every respect. With a -30 player movement debuff, that means every combo attack is going to take more than a second to complete. It does have decent reach though, making it easier to get those maximum damage hits in.

Good One-Handed Mace For Tanks
Players who prefer playing a defensive, tank buildinDark and Darkerusing a shield and concentrating on hitpoints and survivability might like to consider using the War Hammer. This is a good blunt damage weapon that can be held in the main hand.
Speed-wise, it is middle of the road, with all combo attacks except one completing within a second. The -20 player movement buff isn’t too bad either. The good 20% cooldown on hit helps to make this a good weapon for defensive playing styles as well.

An Upgrade To The War Hammer
The Flanged Mace is a logical upgrade path for players who prefer a tank build. It offers some clear benefits over the War Hammer regarding the damage it does. However, it may not be worth specifically trying to farm this weapon if the player already has the War Hammer, as this is only a minor upgrade.
This weapon shares all of the same stats with the War Hammer as well. A -20 player movement debuff and a 20% slowdown on hit. Weapon speed is identical as well, with all combos aside from one completing within a second.

The Best Two-Handed Mace
Arguably the best weapon that a cleric can use inDark and Darker, the War Maul is a very high damage, but incredibly slow blunt weapon. With a whopping -50 player movement debuff, this is not the kind of weapon players who prefer to move around in combat will want to use.
This is a very slow weapon when it comes to attack combos. No combo will complete in less than a second. However, the 45% slowdown on hit is devastating to most enemies.

The Best One-Handed Mace
As far as one-handed blunt weapons go inDark and Darker, the Morning Star is the best of all. However, it is a shame that is restricted to the Druid and Cleric classes, as it would be an excellent blunt weapon for Fighters who prefer the sword and board, tank style of gameplay.
With just a -20 player movement speed debuff, and a weapon speed that means the longest any attack combo will take to complete is just 1.1 seconds, with most being much lower, this is a high DPS weapon for the support classes.
