Taichi and Azuma are normal high school students, and one random day on their way to school, their lives take a drastic turn. These two high schoolers and childhood friends find themselves in a fantasy world after a mysterious circle appears under them as they are walking.
They find themselves in Altianutz, and the first thing that welcomes them is a monster, very similar to Takatou’s situation; on arrival, the classmates have the task of killing a dragon. These students have to think fast and strategize to survive the attack. However, they run off, leaving the students without powers vulnerable to attacks.
Programmers often lack sleep because they spend most of their time writing codes and fixing bugs, which can be particularly frustrating. After a hectic and sleep-deprived weekend, Ichiro, a game programmer, decides to take a nap, and upon waking up, he finds himself in a fantasy world thatstrangely resembles a gamehe has worked on.
Ichiro’s situation is quite similar to Takatou’s, as they both find themselves in a fantasy world after a nap. With no time to get familiar with their surroundings, a dragon comes out to attack Takatou, and for Ichiro, it isan army of lizardmen. After defeating their respective demons with their hidden and overpowered abilities, these two characters go on to familiarize themselves with their new world while exploring and trying their new abilities.
Ken is an ordinary high school student just trying to be normal - get good grades, avoid drama, and avoid people who are outspoken and popular - butlife has other plans for him. Ken befriends Suzune, the student council president, and Kazuki, the vice president. On their way home one fateful day, these three find themselves in a fantasy world, summoned as heroes to defeat the demon king and his armies.
Suzune and Kazuki receive special powers, essentially making them fit for their roles as heroes, just like Takatou’s classmates, and Ken happens to be temporarily useless like Takatou until he discovers hisspecial and rare healing abilities. After discovering this power, he receives training to become stronger.
Karou finds herself in a medieval world with swords and little magic afterGod kills her by mistake. Aware of his mistake, he tries to compensate by reincarnating her in another world. Although this world is less technologically advanced than her previous world, she accepts it, but only with the condition that she has the power to create whatever spells she needs.
These two characters, Karou and Takatou, find themselves in a world completely different from their previous one. In their respective fantasy worlds, technology is still far behind and completely different from what they are used to. It is because of this that Karou asks for the ability to create any spell she needs since it would be harder to live in this new world without such a luxury at her disposal. On the other hand, Takatou struggles to find a charger for his video game. Though both characters differ in regard to what they consider a priority, the experiences they have share several similarities.
Just like the name implies,In Another World With My Smartphonetells the story of Touya as he finds himself in a fantasy world because of a mistake from God. This action is nothing new in the Isekai scene, as God tries to compensate by giving Touya the chance to ask for anything while reincarnating him in another world. Touya is just a teenager when he dies, and upon receiving the abilities God gives him, he asks for his smartphone, and God grants him his wish.
Takotou did not ask for his video game, but he had it with him when the mage summoned him and his classmates. Technology does not exist inmost fantasy worlds, but because of Takotou’s situation and Touya’s request, they have the chance to bring their electronic gadgets from their previous modern world to their fantastical and medieval one.
