Raphael and Yurgir in BG3

BG3 3: Should You Side With Raphael or Yurgir?

Most decisions inBaldur’s Gate 3significantly impact the story and general gameplay experience. If this is not the first time players have met Raphael, they know how skillful this devil is at cunning and how he likes to make unfair deals. At the same time, Yurgir is a demon, but, in this case, he is a victim. Raphael promised him freedom in exchange forkilling the Dark Justiciars at the Gauntlet of Shar. Here’s what players can expect if they choose one or the other option:

Taking Rafael’s Side

If players want to strengthen their relationship with Astarion, they should definitely kill Yurgir and side with Raphael. The fight can begin immediately after the encounter with Orthon, but be ready, as Yurgir is a powerful opponent. Moreover, there is another option to end Yurgir, namely tomake him kill himselfif any of the characters have a high level of Charisma.

Take Yurgir’s Side

If the players do not kill Yurgir, Astarion will get furious because he did not learn about the runes carved into his back. This choice will require players to pass a Persuasion or Deception check. It is unlikely that fans will have a romantic relationship with Astarion after this. By choosing this option, Yurgir can become a powerful ally that players can call upon in a tough battle.
