Suzu starts this episode doing one of the things she likes the most: eating sweets. Meanwhile, she was reminiscingabout how Matsuri had taken her feelings into consideration with regard to what had happened to them and Shirogane. Even her bedroom has candy decorative cushions. Since Shirogane wants to devour her because she is delicious and will provide him with immense power, her reasoning is that, if she gives him something more delicious than she is, he might become her friend and give up on trying to eat her. Simplistic, but good for comedic purposes. So, she prepares dango (団子) for him, which is considered one of the most iconic wagashi, orJapanese sweets, that could ever exist.
Meanwhile, Matsuri was sleeping, but always on guard when Shirogane tried once again to steal the scroll from the exorcist. She caught him in the middle of the attempt and told him to behave like a good pet, to which he replied that he was not a pet, and that, when he returned to his original form, he would end her. This is an anime that has a lot of fanservice, even if it gets censored in extreme ecchi moments, but that has a very funny and involving story after all.

Shirogane: From King Of The Ayakashi To House Pet
Suzu checks with her if everything is fine, to which she replies with a yes, and Shirogane teases her she should have said “how lucky she is to live with such a cute ayakashi”, and later her grandpa and Shirogane are talking, and the first says he is retired now that Matsuri has taken over for him, and he just spends his days watching idol videos and playing games. Shirogane sounds like a grumpy cat, but he has some cute moments and funny poses, just like, well, those of a house cat!
Once again we have Shirogane reproducing the traditional — and outdated — vision of femininity we, unfortunately, have in real life, whenhe compliments on how Matsuri’s “feminity” has gone upbecause she was wearing an apron and preparing breakfast, while close-ups on her body were shown. That spoiled a bit of the fun of the moment. However, it was cool to see Matsuri commenting that HE used to do the housework before the gender swap took place. Nice touch, saved by a whisker.

Is Shirogane Starting To Become Fond Of Matsuri?
When she says she had prepared something for him to eat for he is now part of the household, Shirogane comments on how Matsuri has a likable side — just to be given foul food! “Poor” kitten. While grumpy cat Shirogane is complaining about that, Suzu arrives with her offerings to him. Grumpy Shirogane complains again he wants to eat her, not kibi dango, which, from the quantity she brought to him, we can see she ate a lot. “If you think you may domesticate me likesome stupid animal in a folktale…” - Shirogane says just before eating one of the dumplings and compares the sweet’s texture to Suzu’s thighs! His conclusion is that, since the sweets are handmade, her ayakashi medium’s life energy accentuates the flavor. He thinks the food is out of this world but obviously does not say so to her. She does not give up on befriending him, however, and lets Matsuri know of her intention. Seigen comments with Matsuri on how brave Suzu is, that she is not afraid of the ayakashi that tried to devour her, and compares her to an idol, adding she is Matsuri’s idol.
It is then revealed Matsui was terrified of the ayakashi when she was younger, then we get to see the flashbacks of when he was little and Suzu was the one that controlled the mischievous ayakashi that used to torment Matsuri, who would become her friend. So, it is shown that Suzuis not really just a damsel in distress after all. So, Matsuri cares for her and, according to his grandpa, idolizes her so much that, to save and protect her, Matsuri would even consider remaining a girl forever. In the meanwhile, Suzu was playing with Shirogane, who was indeed acting like a house cat after all.

A human antagonist appeared all of a sudden after some cozy reminiscent moments and cuteness. When Suzu’s friends were talking with her and Matsuri at school, the new antagonist appeared once again, for the audience, not our protagonists. With more flashbacks, we get to know who this guy really is. After his introduction, the viewers get to know what he wants, and Shirogane is grooming himself at the school bench, well, just like a pet cat.
Ninokuro Soga is then seen by Matsuri and Suzu when he wastrying to killShirogane. He tells Matsuri it is inexcusable to let a dangerous ayakashi like Shirogane live “just” because he wants to go back to being a guy. Matsuri then stops his running to think of what was ahead — if Ninokuro got rid of Shirogane, even if Matsuri would remain a girl, Suzu would be free of the threat he poses to her. However, the way Matsuri enters the scene and saves Shirogane’s hide is amazing, with her manipulating the wind like that.

I can’t really have him dying on me. — Matsuri
The top moment of the episode was when Matsuri declared to Ninokuro her feelings about Suzu —
Suzu’s existence is the eye of my hurricane. — Matsuri
After Ninokuro attacked Matsuri anyway, even after her reasoning, when her panties were shown, he got as red as a tomato and decided to hold on for now. Shirogane even commented on how that was scandalous. And, seeing how Suzu handled the ayakashi when she was younger, and how pleased Shirogane gets when she pets him and plays with him, and gives him sweets, it is hard to say she will not get what she wants. This was a very consistent, funny, andheartwarming episode, which kept the quality shown in the second one.Ayakashi Triangleis only getting better.
