Summary
One talented artist andPokemonfan has put together an impressive series of sketches that reimagine several popular species of dog Pokemon in a classic, hand-drawn Disney animation-style presentation. ThePokemongames offer up more than 30 different breeds of dog-like monsters for players to collect, evolutions included, and this artist seems to be constantly adding to their collection.
Pokemon’screators seem to have a strong affinity for dogs, as new dog-like creations have been added to the Pokedex in each of the nine generations so far. This trend doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, as the most recent pair of games,Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, are the most dog-heavy, introducing seven new canine companions and placingArven’s Mabostiffat the center of one of the main storylines.

The artist, who goes by the Reddit handle Pet_Disneyfication, initially showed off an image of an adult Furfrou leading three puppies — an obedient Lillipup, a friendly Rockruff, and an excited Yamper — on a stroll. This artist’s work has awoken a lot of Disney andPokemonnostalgiain fans, with many expressing a desire for Disney’s animation studios to return to a hand-drawn presentation. The sketches have drawn comparisons to Disney animal movies from the ’70s and ’80s, likeThe AristocatsandOliver & Company, with the latter movie’s poodle character, Georgette, having a lot of similarities to the Furfrou.
Adding More Disney-Inspired Dogs to Pokemon
While the initial sketch turned a lot of heads, the artist wasn’t done there. After one commenter presented a headcanon about a wild wolf pup befriending a group of domesticated dogs, the artist added a fourth puppy — this one a surprised-looking Poochyena — to the back of the line, not realizing that the commenter was referring to the Rockroff as the wolf.
Further down in the comment section, after one person requested to see the artist’s take onGeneration-1 dog Arcanine, they presented a completely different sketch showing a sleepy adult Arcanine being awoken by an eager and energetic Electrike puppy, also granting another request to show off a Disney-inspired Dachsbun.
While these recentPokemonsketches have all been posted in the past couple of days, Pet_Disneyfication has been posting their brand of Disney-inspired cats and dogs to Reddit for eight years. The artist has even hosted free sessions on the platform, asking people to submit photos of their pets and receive full-color artwork in a classic cartoon style. While they may not be the first artist togivePokemona Disney-inspired makeover, their artwork seems to be drawing out people’s desire to see Pokemon presented in a wider variety of art styles.
