Respawn Entertainment has made Season 16 ofApex Legendsa celebration of sorts, though some of the environmental updates have introduced sound effects that aren’t sitting well with players. The long awaited sixteenth season ofApex Legendsalso coincides with its 4th anniversary, giving fans tons of rewards for logging in and checking out some of the big changes made to the game. Over the next two weeks, fans can even get their hands on two legends with Crypto and then Ash.

Outside of the new anniversary rewards, Respawn has also decided to forego a new Legend for this season and instead overhauled the current roster completely. Now, each Legend has been classified into a specific role to better reflect their play style, but also inherit a new gameplay perk. For many players, the biggest reveal is thatSeason 16 added a new Team Deathmatch specific mode, effectively replacing Arenas. However, one subtle change has not sat well with the community, who is now requesting adjustments be made.

Over on the officialApex LegendssubReddit, a user named mafieth posted a short clip of the issue, highlighting the new environmental animations that take place during matches. As part of the celebratory nature of Season 16, planes fly over matches and leave colored trails in the sky. Unfortunately, players have found that these animations use similar, if not the same, sound effects as the revive drop-ship or Valkyrie’s Skyward Dive ultimate ability.

During a match, hearing these sound effects have left many players confused or startled, assuming that a Valkyrie player is about to surprise them from the sky. The community has largely agree with mafieth’s sentiment, calling for Respawn to make the sounds more unique and distinct to help players better differentiate them while playing. Some even referenced a similar sound related problem onthe Storm Point mapwith the lightning rod also becoming very distracting.

Sound design isn’t the only aspect of Season 16 that fans have taken issue with. Season 16 alsointroduced a new Auto Rifle called the Nemesis Burst ARwhich was intended to combat the R-301 and Flatline. Using energy ammo, the weapon has proven to be too effective as many players have deemed the rifle overpowered and in need of an adjustment.

Apex Legendsis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
