Now thatA Quiet Place 2is officially a box office hit, the next movie in the franchise is officially coming. This film, unofficially titledA Quiet Place 3, will be the first in the franchise not directed by John Krasinski and it even has an official launch date from Paramount.
AQuiet Place 2launched to commercial and critical acclaim earlier this month. The new film takes place within hours of the end of the first and shows the continued struggle of mankind to deal with the invasion of alien creatures that have incredibly acute hearing.A Quiet Place Part IIshows moreof the beginning of that invasion and also introduces several new characters. While this movie is a direct sequel to the first, the third in the series is not expected to be a continuation of the first two.

While there isn’t much known aboutA Quiet Place 3yet,Deadlinedid report some details about the work in progress. That included the fact that the film was recently put on the release calendar for July 01, 2025. WhileKrasinski won’t directA Quiet Place 3, he’s not entirely removed from this upcoming project. It’s been reported that the story for the upcoming film was dreamt up by Krasinski but will be written and directed by Jeff Nichols. It’s also not a “threequel” so it doesn’t appear that it will be tied to the Abbott family.
So it appears that the studio believes thatA Quiet Place 2wrapped up the storyof Emily Blunt and her family since this third installment is meant to “expand the world” that viewers were introduced to in the first two films. The report speculates thatA Quiet Place 3will follow the lives of other survivors of the invasion that basically brought the human race to the brink of extinction.
Nichols is going to be returning to the science-fiction genre withA Quiet Place 3for the first time since he wrote and directedMidnight Special. The story in that movie involved a father and son who were on the run from the government. In other words, his last sci-fi film wasn’t focused on an alien species taking over the planet by killing everyone they heard.
Despite not really having a background in alien invasion films, the man who builttheA Quiet Placefranchiseinto a series that has made more than $432 million in theaters around the world trusts Nichols to carry on the mantle. So, fans might have reason to be optimistic about the new director taking the helm.
