Being the face of the entire Shonen anime genre back in the early 2000s, it’s only natural that the originalNarutoseries was as memeable as it was. Now, longtime fans haveBoruto, the new generation of shinobi to follow and make new memories with. After the incredibly iconic and long-running original series,Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki, have a lot to live up to.

Some fans may be a bit undecided about whether the new series lives up to the original, but no one can deny that both series make for some great meme material. Here are some hilariousBorutomemes that true (and especially longtime) fans will appreciate!
8Kids These Days
It may seem a bit crazy, but the originalNarutoseries began its run all the way back in 2002; ten whole years ago! Clearly, many things have changed in Konoha Village since the time Naruto himself was a young ninja, learning the ins and outs of every ninjutsu and taijutsu he needed in order to become the accomplished Hokage he is today.
There have only really been a few occasions where moremodern technology was showcasedthroughout the series, but in this instance inBoruto, this young child seems to have needed a bit of guidance from Google to find out what chakra was! Kakashi-Sensei may have been a bit lazy, but he would have never let his students walk around being so ignorant!

7The Best Of Both Worlds
Perhaps not many fans could have predicted that Naruto and Hinata would end up together by the end of the series (in favor of theNaruto and Sakura pairinginstead) but luckily, Hinata finally stepped up and expressed her true feelings. Regardless of how the pair ended up clicking, it’s easy to see that the two are incredibly different since opposites do tend to attract.
This little meme truly shows how Boruto is a perfect balance of both his parents; having the shyness of Hinata and the goofiness of Naruto! Boruto may look a lot like his father, but deep down, he can bring out the best of both of his parents with the flip of a switch.

6Side Quests Can Still Be A Good Time!
Fillers refer to the filler episodes in a series that don’t exactly have any real effect or purpose in regard to the overarching main plot. Perhaps the main cast goes out for a beach day, or they set out on a new journey that ultimately leaves the main plot untouched. Either way, fillers act as a little break from the high tension and seriousness of the main story.

Some fans may find it a bit taxing to sit through events thatdon’t ultimately matter in the bigger picture, but it’s important to remember that some fans love the fluff! It’s a good idea to step away from the big battles and confrontations every so often; for the sake of the audience and the cast.
5Lighten up, For The Kids
WhileNarutodid have its fair share of silly moments and episodes, it’s important to remember that the beginning of the series was actually rather dark. Many of the beginning arcs of the seriesfeatured heavy themesand the deaths of a few notable characters (R.I.P. Haku).
So in the end, it’s only natural that longtimeNarutofans were quick to draw the comparison between the two series. Just because Naruto had a rough and traumatic childhood doesn’t mean Boruto needed to experience the same. If anything, Naruto would be happy to know that his beloved son is able to have fun with his closest friends.

4Back In My Day, We Needed Two Arcs And A Filler!
This hilarious meme features famousKhaby Lame’s TikTok trendof mocking “hacks” that made everyday tasks more complicated than they should be. Rasengan is a technique that was first featured in theNarutoseries and involves manifesting a powerful ball of chakra that only very few shinobi are capable of performing.
While fourth Hokage, Minato, needed much more time to learn the technique, little Boruto apparently only needed ahandful of episodes to master it! Boruto is coming from two whole generations of Hokages, no wonder he’s such a natural.

3Comparing Shinobi To Pro Heroes
The Shonen genre is a vast one and by far one of the most popular genres of anime of all time. A few years back,Naruto, Goku, Luffy, and a few notable others were the face of the genre, and now it’s their time to finally pass the torch down to a younger generation of protagonists.

This hilarious meme pokes fun at Boruto a bit, implying thatMy Hero Academia’s Deku is the true new face of Shonen and not him! Naruto would likely acknowledge Deku’s accomplishments, but of course, he’d still put his own son first.
2R.I.P Uncle Itachi
Most of Sasuke’s arc in the original series focused on the traumatic events in his clan that were seemingly caused by his older brother, Itachi. However, in a twist of events, it’s revealed that Itachi wassimply protecting his younger brotherand was the one in the Uchiha clan that was burdened with the horrific task of killing his family. Unfortunately, Sasuke found out Itachi’s true motives after Itachi finally met his end by Sasuke’s hand.
The series with Itachi still alive would likely be a bit messy, all things considered. Explaining everything to little Sarada might be a little complicated as well. Hopefully, she knows her uncle had good intentions all along.

1A Disgrace To The Uzumaki Name!
Themost iconic (and memeable) thingthat came out of the originalNarutoseries was the hilarious “Naruto run”. The “Naruto run” refers to the typical ninja run where the body leans forward for more momentum and the arms are held back to help aerodynamics; just like Sarada in this meme.
It seems as if Sakura and Sasuke did a good job teaching Sarada how to run the true ninja way but Naruto and Hinata seem to be slacking. How dare Boruto ruin the “Naruto run” tradition by running the “normal” way!
