As it stands, it would be incredibly surprising if Ubisoft’s nextACtitle wasn’tAssassin’s Creed Ragnarok, the highly-rumored and almost equally corroborated Norse game said to release later this year. Even if a few of theAssassin’s Creedrumors are wrong, the Viking setting itself seems to be locked-in at the very least. But it’s highly doubtful that it’ll be the last game in the franchise, as there are plenty of locations to be explored after the Viking Era.
As such, here are a few locations that would be great in a forthcomingAssassin’s Creedtitles. Some of these are in high fan demand, whereas others have been suggested in-game as well. It’s doubtful that each of these eras are explored in future games, but at least a few ought to be.

Japan’s Satsuma Rebellion
Assassin’s Creedkeeps skipping its best time period, namely the Satsuma Rebellion in 1877 Japan. It could be due to the current saturation of Samurai-like games on the market that Ubisoft has erred from this location, but a Japanese setting was clearly teased in the above image that depicted Egypt’s Eye of Horus (Assassin’s Creed Origins), Greece’s Omega symbol (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey), and a Japanese Torri.
If it were to go here and feature Assassins and Samurai, then the Satuma Rebellion would be ideal. This was a war that lasted for most of a year where disaffected Samurai took up arms against the new Empire of Japan. It brought an end to the Samurai and forced Japan off the gold standard, and this influenced could tie into the contemporary lore of the Osaka brotherhood. This conflict could easily be tied intoAssassin’s Creed’s overarching Assassin-Templar war, while also being respectful of the war’s historical impact.
Ancient Rome’s Pax Romana
The Pax Romana was nearly 200 years of relative peace (key word here is relative) that ended in 180 AD, with the years to follow not being the kindest to Rome. It would be a good follow up to the Hidden Ones DLC ofAssassin’s Creed Origins and could continue to explore the earliest days of the fledgling brotherhood. In fact, this setting was rumored once under the code nameAssassin’s Creed Legionbefore theRagnarokrumors came in and squashed that conversation.
American Midwest
There’s not a ton of games set in themysterious midwest outsideRed Dead Redemption, and while it would likely require some serious tweaks, it’s the perfect backdrop for an Assassin vs. Templar story. Many will be familiar withAssassin’s Creed 3where it was made clear that, as the new world expanded, the two factions fought over the new territory.
With the American Midwest seeking to be established, it’s the perfect stimulus for thisAssassin’s Creedconflict to continue afterConnor Kenway’s resurrection of the American brotherhood and the decline of the Colonial Rite, telling a new story of the American conflict. It’s also worth adding that this location was mentioned in an Abstergo e-mail, so all things considered, it’s possible that the location has been considered at some point.
Pre-Discovery America
One reason that Ancient Greece and Egypt were chosen was because of the limited amount of knowledge of those times. It allowedAssassin’s Creedthe freedom to create an intriguing plot, while remaining true to the historical value. As such, pre-discovery America - between the time that theNorse explorer Leif Eriksonstepped foot here and the time of Colombus’s journey - would be ripe with freedom as well.
Here,Assassin’s Creedcould lean more heavily into the mythological aspects, exploring native stories of the various empires, tribes, and the like. It would likely be difficult, especially given the Eurocentric focus of the Assassins and the Templar, but there’s more to the story than those two factions. This could explore more of the history between the Isu civilization and theNative Americans mentioned inAssassin’s Creed 3, and at the very least, would be representative of a time in history that largely goes unexplored.
First War of Scottish Independence
War of Independence wasn’t a concept for several centuries later and retroactively applied here, but when William Wallace and the Scottish people fought for their freedom against England would make for a good time setting. Much like the American Revolution, this setting could actually use a war as its main setup vs. as abackdrop likeAssassin’s Creed Odyssey. After all, the Templars could be behind England’s actions here, with Assassin’s joining up with William Wallace to continue the fight for freedom.
